We booked a Fiat Scudo campervan in Iceland for a 9-day trip in August, believing that our reservation was directly with Campervan Iceland. However, during our communication before the trip, Konvin suddenly started responding to our emails. At no point had it been made clear to us that our booking had effectively been transferred to or handled by a different company. In my opinion, this is something customers should be explicitly informed about before booking a vehicle. Our experience did not improve upon arrival. The airport pickup was significantly delayed. We were initially told that someone would arrive within around 10 minutes, but we ended up waiting approximately 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the campervan itself was also in poor condition. The table and kitchen equipment were heavily worn and in very bad shape, while the stove was visibly rusty. The curtains were extremely difficult to open and close, making them particularly inconvenient at night, and some of them were torn as well. The rear interior light was coming apart, and the water tank hose repeatedly detached while we were driving and even when the vehicle was stationary. On top of that, the gas canister was already half empty when we received the campervan, meaning we had to find and purchase another one shortly after starting our trip. Considering the amount we paid, the condition and overall quality of the campervan were nowhere near what we expected. The biggest issue, however, was the lack of transparency regarding who we were actually booking with. Customers should know exactly which company is providing their vehicle before completing a reservation. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this company to anyone planning to rent a campervan in Iceland.

Everything, from the booking to the drop-off date, was smooth and efficient. The Campervan was just perfect for us! Marcelo

Our Icelandic adventure: when the van becomes an ER Have you ever wondered what it really means to live in a campervan for two weeks? Last year, we—"La Gang della Volpe" (four Italian friends with a crazy craving for adventure)—decided to find out. We rented a van and tackled the entire Icelandic Ring Road. In those 14 days, we saw it all: from the most famous waterfalls swarming with tourists to the most remote corners where there wasn't a soul in sight. After a few days, we practically became one with our vehicle. It was our home, our kitchen, our shelter from the wind, and—on one occasion we'll never forget—even our emergency room. It all happened in the northwest of Iceland. We were in the middle of a hike when the unexpected struck: one of us slipped and got a bad cut, deep and bleeding heavily. We were in the middle of nowhere. After assessing the wound, it was clear he needed stitches. We rushed to the van and drove for a solid two hours to reach the nearest pharmacy. There we bought the missing supplies to supplement the van's existing first-aid kit. And this is where our van truly shined. We cleared the central table—the exact same one where we had eaten and played cards the night before—and sterilized it, turning it into a proper field operating table. Our doctor friend started stitching the wound right there on the campervan table, cool as a cucumber, while another one of us acted as a surgical assistant, handing him tools and holding the light steady. (We filmed the whole scene and are attaching the video, because just telling the story doesn't do it justice!). Once the adrenaline wore off, with the stitches in and our friend patched up, we desperately needed to unwind and calm down. We drove until we found a unique spot by the sea: an isolated beach with a massive, half-rusted abandoned ship standing out against the Icelandic sky. We parked right in front of it, fired up the van’s stove, and started cooking. Eating all together while looking at that incredible shipwreck, with the sound of the ocean in the background and the realization that we had overcome a pretty big hurdle, is one of the best memories we have. That day we realized that traveling in a van isn't just a holiday: it's about learning to make do, working as a team, and turning an unexpected mishap into an epic memory. We hope you enjoy our story! Cheers and love, Dario, from La Gang della Volpe

A week on the road in the land of fire and ice. But this time, the trip wasn’t just about discovering Iceland; it was about experiencing it from a van. For seven days, that small space on four wheels became home—a place to wake up, brew coffee, take shelter from the rain, eat, sleep, and decide each morning which direction to take. There was no hotel room to reach at the end of the day. We could change plans because of a roadside sign, a distant waterfall, or simply because a detour looked too intriguing not to explore. Every morning, we’d open the van door to a different view. Two camping chairs, cold air on our faces, and hot coffee bubbling on the stove. The van behind us, Iceland ahead. Then, we’d hit the road again. Kilometers of waterfalls, glaciers, black-sand beaches, and endless roads. Icelandic horses in the meadows, puffins on the cliffs, seals along the coast, and whales briefly surfacing from the cold ocean waters. And then, stops at hot springs: parking the van, grabbing a towel, and soaking in the warm water while the air outside was freezing. Those were the moments when time seemed to stand still. The weather was part of the experience, too—rain, wind, sun, and clouds again, all within minutes. When the weather turned bad, the van became our little sanctuary. Then the sun would return, we’d open the door, and set off once more. In the evening, we’d park, make something to eat, and bring out the camping chairs again. It was summer, and the sunset seemed like it would never arrive. The van behind us, the sky ahead, and no rush to be anywhere. In the end, what started out as merely the vehicle for traversing Iceland became an integral part of the journey itself. A tiny home, yet with a different view every morning and a new road to travel every day. Perhaps this is the feeling that lingers most after a week in a van in Iceland: having everything you need with you and feeling—at least for a few days—completely free.

I have always believed that some journeys are meant to be experienced, not simply visited. My trip to Iceland was exactly that. I travelled alone, with a campervan and the idea of exploring Iceland at my own pace, letting the roads, the landscapes and my curiosity decide where to go next. In just a few days, I travelled around an island that often felt like another planet: enormous waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, black sand beaches, fjords, lava fields, hot springs and a nature so powerful and untouched that it was almost impossible to choose a favourite place. And the journey certainly did not start smoothly. On the very first day, a powerful Icelandic gust of wind blew open the rear door of the van and broke the window. A very Icelandic way of introducing me to the country, I suppose. I had to drive all the way back to the starting point, where the rental company was extremely helpful and replaced the vehicle, allowing me to continue my journey. I was, of course, charged for the damage, but I really appreciated how quickly and professionally the situation was handled. From that moment, the real adventure began. The campervan was simple, practical and comfortable, with everything I needed, including heating, which proved to be particularly valuable during the cold Icelandic nights. But what truly transformed the experience was the freedom that came with travelling and sleeping in the van. Compared with staying in hotels every night, travelling by camper gave me a completely different sense of freedom. I wasn't simply trying to reach a destination. The road itself became part of the journey. I could stop whenever I wanted, take in a landscape, continue driving and, just a few kilometres later, find myself standing in front of an enormous waterfall or at the foot of a glacier. And then there were those moments at the end of the day, when I returned to the van, closed the door and found myself surrounded by silence and nature. Waking up just steps away from landscapes that you would normally experience during a visit was one of the most memorable parts of the entire trip. I travelled along the South Coast, explored glaciers and glacial lagoons, crossed the Eastern Fjords, reached some of the great waterfalls of the North, explored the Myvatn area and Husavik, travelled through the Snæfellsnes peninsula and eventually reached Reykjavik. Every day seemed to be more spectacular than the one before. I honestly cannot choose a favourite stop, because it would be unfair to all the others. Iceland kept surprising me throughout the entire journey, constantly changing its appearance: from ice to fire, from the ocean to mountains, from fierce winds to vast, empty landscapes. Perhaps that is what stayed with me the most: the feeling of actually being inside the landscape rather than simply looking at it. Travelling alone by campervan allowed me to experience Iceland with a level of freedom that I could hardly have had by staying in hotels. The van wasn't simply the vehicle I used to travel around the country. It became an essential part of the adventure itself. I left home looking for a journey through nature, and I came back feeling as though I had lived an adventure. An adventure made of thousands of kilometres, Icelandic winds, waterfalls, glaciers, silence and landscapes that I will never forget. And, above all, with the certainty that Iceland is one of those places you don't simply visit. You let the journey become part of you.
