Cloning a disk drive
I needed to clone my old Toshiba HDD to a new Samsung SSD over a USB 3.0 connection. I first tired Hasleo Disk Clone, Clonezilla, Samsung Data Migration, and EaseUS Todo. All of these either wanted a paid subscription, install bloatware, and/or would not work over a USB connection. I finally tried DiskGenius and didn't need any of those things. It cloned fine all for free.

the Disk cloning is free to use
Disk cloning is free to use, and the cloning SSDs is smooth. The old SSD is the system disk, and it is small (there is only 29.8GB free space left). I want to replace it with a bigger one without reinstalling Windows. So I tried the cloning (actually the OS migration), it is a nice try. now my pc is booting from the new SSD. LOL

Misleading free version
Free version showed the files I needed to recover, so I paid for a month of the license. DiskGenius was then unable to copy over the files because of Unexpected End Of File (EOF) error (which, in my experience, can still be copied). After over 27 hours of a second scan, DiskGenius went into "Not Responding" for another 24 hours. Restarting the program, it got stuck in a "Not Responding" state again. Contacting with support, they informed me that I had should back up the data before running a sector repair, which DiskGenius also cannot do, so that I will need to "send the drive to a professional data recovery service" (direct quote from the manual, which they sent me a link to). Since the free version appeared to be able to do the tasks I needed, and then after paying it turns out that isn't the case, and they referred me to a "professional data recovery service", I asked for a refund. I have yet to hear back.
