E8 changes rules after passing..
My experience with E8 Markets was extremely disappointing, particularly because of how the trading rules were handled after I had already passed the evaluation. I purchased and successfully passed an evaluation based on the rules and risk parameters presented to me at the time, including a 14% drawdown allowance. After passing, however, E8 introduced an additional restriction that limited how I could trade. I was notified of this new rule by email and was required to agree to the updated terms. The issue became much more significant when I generated profits and submitted a payout request for approximately $16,500. E8 informed me that I had exceeded the newly imposed rule by risking more than 1% on what they classified as a single “trade idea.” As a result, I was told that I could only receive 25% of the payout I had requested. My biggest concern is not simply that E8 has risk-management rules. Prop firms are entitled to establish trading parameters, and traders are responsible for following the rules they agree to. My concern is that the restriction affecting my payout was introduced after I had already purchased and passed my evaluation under a different set of conditions. Had the 1% per-trade-idea restriction and the potential reduction of a payout to 25% been clearly disclosed as part of the original rules when I purchased the evaluation, I could have incorporated that restriction into my trading strategy—or decided whether the account was appropriate for me in the first place. Instead, I paid for an account offering a 14% drawdown structure, passed the evaluation, traded profitably, and then encountered an additional risk restriction that materially affected how much of my requested $16,500 payout I was allowed to receive. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering E8 Markets carefully document the rules in effect when purchasing an evaluation and review any subsequent emails or updated terms before continuing to trade. Pay particular attention to maximum risk per trade or “trade idea,” payout reductions, and E8’s ability to modify or impose additional trading restrictions. Remember that your money is not being traded in the market. They will lie and say that it is. For me, the central issue was simple: the rules governing my trading and eventual payout were not the same rules I understood myself to be purchasing and passing the evaluation under.
