A Dream Safari in Uganda
As seasoned world travelers, I usually plan every detail of our trips myself. I enjoy the freedom it gives us to move around as we please, adjusting to how we feel and what we discover along the way. However, when I began organizing our 17-day trip to Uganda, I quickly realized that this approach wouldn’t work. Between the remote lodges, difficult road conditions, and the tight coordination needed for gorilla and chimpanzee treks as well as safari drives, I knew we needed help. After researching extensively, I found excellent reviews of Ellington Safaris. From the very beginning, Jenny was incredibly responsive. Once I shared the types of experiences we were looking for, she and Joan quickly sent over a thoughtful and well-organized proposal. They stayed in contact right up to our departure, always helpful and reassuring. From the moment we landed in Uganda to the moment we left, everything was seamlessly taken care of. I have never felt so pampered on a trip. Our guide and driver, Christopher, was absolutely outstanding. His deep knowledge of Uganda and its wildlife, along with his calm, confident manner and excellent driving skills, made us feel completely at ease. I was continually impressed how he managed to avoid the potholes on the roads while simultaneously spotting a leopard lounging in distant tree or a shoebill in a swamp. He was a pleasure to travel with for 17 days and became an integral part of our adventure and taught us so much. We stayed in 10 different lodges, all of which were excellent — great food, warm hospitality, and stunning locations. Every activity was timed to perfection, and Chris made sure we were always where we needed to be, making the entire journey feel effortless. We were very lucky with the incredible wildlife sightings (thanks to Chris) and saw nearly every animal possible. The only one that escaped us was the hyena, though Chris truly gave it his all to find one! I’ll admit I can be a rather demanding traveler, and this trip exceeded every one of my expectations. My family and I all agreed that any future safari in Africa will struggle to live up to the incredible experience we had in Uganda with Ellington Safaris.

Großartige Reise
Nicht zum ersten Mal in Ostafrika, aber zum ersten Mal in Uganda, hatten wir – im besten Seniorenalter – keinen Erholungsurlaub, aber eine sehr beeindruckende und unvergessliche Reise, von Ellington Safaris, namentlich Jenny und Joanna, wirklich perfekt geplant und organisiert. Alle individuellen Wünsche wurden uns erfüllt und auch sehr kurzfristige Planänderungen wurden problemlos gemeistert. Zwischendurch waren wir immer wieder in Kampala – ein Moloch mit unvorstellbar chaotischen Verkehrsverhältnissen, bei dem schon das bloße Überqueren einer Straße zum Abenteuer wird. Und das bei 35 Grad im Schatten! Ansonsten: Die unglaublichen Murchison Falls, der gleichnamige Nationalpark mit der schönen Pakuba Lodge, viele Game Drives in die großartige Natur und Tierwelt (Elefanten, Giraffen, Büffel, Löwen, Nilpferde, Krokodile, verschiedene Affen, Impalas, Uganda-Kobs und manche mehr, die vielen Vogelarten nicht zu vergessen – nur die Leoparden hielten sich versteckt☹), das Nashorn-Reservat, das Masindi Hotel, die Ssezibwa Falls und der Mabira Forest, ein City-Walk durch Jinja mit Abschluss in der Bourbon-Bar, die wunderbare Haven Eco Lodge und – natürlich – eine Bootstour zum Source of the Nile. Alles - wie gesagt – überaus beeindruckend und unvergesslich! Und ebenso unser Guide und Fahrer Godfrey, ein überaus kompetenter, freundlicher und fürsorglicher Begleiter, bei dem wir uns bestens aufgehoben fühlten. Fachlich und menschlich top! Ellington Safaris können wir uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Great day on the Jinja Tour and Nile River.
My son and I did the one day Jinja Tour. We had a nice day with our guide who was great and went the extra mile to make our day great. Being on the Nile River made me want to explore more of it. Maybe that will be for another trip.

Perfect Tour
Ellingtonsafaris planned a perfect tour for discovery of Western Uganda and Ruanda on a 2-week-trip. Plans were supported by email and telephone discussions beforehand regarding needs and expectations. Our driver was excellent and, besides safe driving and day-to-day assistance during the trip, he was a moving encyclopedia for our numerous questions in this totally different world compared to Europe.

Perfect Way to Find a Lifer Bird
We signed up for this excursion shortly before embarking on our trip to Africa and we are glad we did. As bird people we were glad to find a company that could help us find the Shoebill stork. The safari starts early to pick you up from Kampala to take you from your lodging. From there it is a ride to the swamp, once at the swamp you spend about 1.5 hrs on the boat with your guide, a bird guide, and the pilot. We were able to see 20+ birds highlighted by the shoebill stork as well as its baby before returning back. Once done we got lunch at a local lodge and had a quick tour of Entebbe before heading back.
