The rudest staff I have ever dealt with. My family were laughed out of the office after being upsold hundreds of euros worth of additional insurance we didn't need. Rather than help us, they were unprofessional and argumentative. Well done "Morgane with an e" you've earned your company a one-star review and a head office complaint. I felt like I was being upsold and scammed for more money at the desk after already purchasing "super" insurance online; and they tried to get me to purchase a bigger vehicle too. Incredibly rude and a complete rip off.

AVOID EUROPCAR CARCASSONNE airport . SCAMMERS AND BULLIES! On arriving at Europcar Carcassonne, we had an uncomfortable, upsetting & aggressive experience. First of all the man serving us seemed polite . He then proceeded to try & upsell another car to us for the EXTRA price of 40 euros per day. ( we were there for a week) . He did the same with insurance, despite my husband repeatedly telling him we had full cover through another provider. He didn’t seem to like us politely saying no to him & became even more insistent on us buying more insurance, saying we would have to pay £15,000 euros otherwise if the car got damaged without the insurance he was peddling?!? My husband good-naturedly informed him he only has 7k on his credit card to which the man said rather ominously ‘ oh, trust me, we can still take 15k off of your card.’ This was starting to feel really unpleasant . I decided to walk away with my daughter & got my phone out to check something in relation to the holiday & the man suddenly started accused me of filming him . I could’t quite believe it & told him I wasn’t, I was just looking at my phone. Not that i had to justify myself to him but how bizarre? In front of my 12 year old daughter too. We then went out to the car, relieved to be away from his toxicity & were checking it over thoroughly when the same man came running towards us shouting ‘Lady, lady, security have told me you were filming & I need to check your phone!’ I genuinely thought he was going to come & apologise for his actions beforehand, but no! He then DEMANDED I show him my phone & made me show him my pictures / videos . I was too shocked to refuse . He then asked me if I had put it onto snapxhat?!? All if this was in front of my husband & 12 year old daughter. We didn’t get his name but it was thursday 9 th august & we collected the car in the afternoon at about 12pm. He was a big, tall, burly individual with a baldish head- youngish? Early -late 30s? Really paranoid & aggressive. Ironically enough, while this was happening, my husband was going round the car filming it, to check for damage so he caught the whole thing on video ( not visuals but audio!!!) We have literal proof of things. We were appalled at this treatment & disrespect . Dropping the car off caused anxiety as we were reading similar reviews made by people about their experiences with Europcar in Carcassonne & all over France . Similar intimidating sales tactics & ridiculous charges & add on extras people hadn’t asked for, money being taken off credit cards after cars returned, etc . A horror show of incompetence, thievery & disregard for their customers . We certainly didn’t want to encounter him again. Thankfully, the slight saving grace was at drop off where the women behind the desk were lovely . My husband commented on this & told the woman who handled our car about the individual the week before being aggressive & rude . She applogised profusely & made a sign like ‘ was he a big man, balding?’ Husband confirmed this & she nodded in agreement - she KNEW who he was . Shame on you Europcar! Firstly for using bully-boy, hiding in plain-sight scam scales tactics on vulnerable, tired tourists who just want to get their car & go, & secondly, for employing vile staff who seem quite happy to intimidate a small family & a woman in front of her child . We are taking this to whatever the senior complaints board is . Please don’t use this company . Lots to choose from in the same building . The bad reviews are real & choosing Europcar could really ruin your holiday & severely deplete your bank balance .

AWFUL experience, EXTORTIONATED. I am taking further action after being extortionated by europcar in Carcassonne, a unprofessional, no ethic of work, zero clarity of charges mostly a bald tall fat man that is not clear of all the charges, zero leadership skills, and I heard him saying "merde to the anglais" thinking people don't understand french. At the moment my bank is dealing with this and they have already decreased in the bill 52.92€ which still not enough, They dishonesty charged me after I've had a puncture and the car didn't have tyre to change, 3.71€ per liter x 44 liters because I didn't have any chance to go to a petrol station to top up the tank. The maximum of 95 petrol in France is 2.02€ liter and they can't extortionated me. I have all the evidences on my side and know my rights and law. This will end when I get the correct amount.

I have given 1 star based on the consistent aggressive return policy at Carcassone Airport, which I have experienced more than once particularly involving a female member of staff. In the first instance trying to claim I caused a scratch to a vehicle a couple of years ago. On that occasion I put up such a fuss she dropped it and when I finally got to carefully review my pick up video (out of the sun and on the plane), it was already there. This suggests they may be repeat charging damage. Most recently (June26) a minor scuff was picked up on the passenger side mirror. Very difficult to see. I was told I was over 2cm but that was itself a bit questionable. The same female assessor as before said she couldn’t determine this as damage herself, and took photos to send to ‘the expert’. Frankly although the scuff existed it was the sort of thing that could be quite easily buffed away or made unnoticeable if it was your own car. Under pressure to catch a flight and having already wasted time because she made to fill up at Auchan, having threatened of €4 litre penalty costs, even though the tank was registering full when I returned it. She simply would not accept that I filled up not far away. My refill got in an extra €5 worth. The cost of a very minor ‘light scuff’ (their description): €260.49 of which €87 was a ‘damage management fee’. Charged in my absence to my card. Note: This car rental office are pushy on collection with upsales and in my mind repeatingly aggressive on returns. BUYER BEWARE!

Do not hire a car here. Deceptive. A hold was put on my credit card for fuel and traffic tickets and a separate amount for insurance. Despite being told at drop off everything was fine and all the money held on credit card would be released they refused to release the money and they claimed I requested an upgrade. Untrue

Auch nicht für Geld. Unclaimed ist fair. Claimed gibt das Mikrofon — nicht den Radiergummi.
