Seit sechs Monaten komme ich zum Schwertkampferlernen zu Leif und seinen Schülern und Trainern und lerne jedes Mal etwas Neues, etwas Wunderbares. Diese Aktivität gibt mir viel: Bewegung mal allgemein und speziell für den Schulterbereich- seit einiger Zeit merke ich dass mich der chronische Schmerz nicht mehr stört! Ganz gerne höre ich den Erklärungen und Geschichten zur Kampfkunst zu, sehe was andere Schüler alles können, an Motivation fehlt es hier nicht! Olga

Feng Tao may offer satisfactory self-defence training for German-speaking participants. However, my experience as a non-German speaker was extremely disappointing. Before joining, I clearly informed the coach that I did not speak German and was assured that translations would be provided during classes. After the first two weeks, however, translations became increasingly rare. When I asked questions about demonstrated exercises, I was often brushed off or told that I was distracting the class. Important information, including details about qualification examinations, was also not communicated to me despite my asking. As a result, I gradually fell behind, and participating in partner exercises eventually felt unsafe for both me and the other participants. More concerningly, when I explicitly raised these safety issues, neither the coaching staff nor the administration offered a meaningful solution or agreed to release me from the contract. The administration was also extremely unresponsive: emails frequently went unanswered for weeks or even months, making it very difficult to resolve even basic concerns. In my experience, the unequal treatment of me as a non-German-speaker was quite apparent. German-speaking students received explanations, guidance and information that were not consistently made available to me, despite the school having accepted me with full knowledge of the language barrier. The contracts were also unnecessarily confusing. Rather than clearly stating the exact dates covered, they relied on complicated calculations based on full calendar months. Consequently, I was required to pay for an entire additional month even though I had informed the school in advance that I would no longer be in town. Overall, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this school to foreigners or anyone who does not speak German fluently. Clear communication is essential in any training environment, but it is especially important in self-defence classes, where misunderstandings can create genuine safety risks.

I'm only here for a couple of months and I am clearly not a natural born sword artist. I have my issues with the performance and remembering the movements but I can see a slightly progress. And I trust the process. Have to admit that I thought it would be easier 😀 However I'm gad I found the school.
