The BEST self-hosting experience
GSA is the best self-hosting option for anyone out there. Firstly, it offers complete independence from overcrowded servers with constant downtimes. You control the hardware on which your servers run, so you know exactly the resources that are being allocated. Secondly, the constant updates and communication from Max are something you won't find elsewhere. The second there is an issue with a blueprint for a game he is on the case to fix it. Finding a service that isn't automated customer service and has actual, real people is hard nowadays, but GSA has always done right by its customers, and something I will always pay for without batting an eye. If you want to keep wasting your money at hosts who don't care about you and overcharge you, then GSA may not be for you. But if you want to save money in the long run and host something actually playable, then GSA is where to look. They are very reasonably priced, and the service as a whole is outstanding. I have been using GSA on and off for over 3 years, and I can say with certainty that this is the BEST option when it comes to self-hosting. Everything you possibly need is available at your fingertips.

Beware: Poor Customer Respect, Censorship, and Unjust Bans
I am writing this review to share my personal experience with GameServerApp.com because my time using this platform was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I joined GameServerApp expecting a professional game management panel to help manage my ARK Survival servers. Instead, my account was completely banned after I raised questions about their pricing and their decision to no longer support self-hosted interserver setups. This was a legitimate concern, as removing support for self-hosted interservers significantly impacts users who rely on that architecture. Rather than explaining the change or discussing alternatives, my account was removed with no warning and no meaningful explanation. There was no attempt at conversation, no clarification, and no opportunity to resolve anything. I was simply banned for questioning pricing and the removal of a core feature. That kind of response is unacceptable for any professional service. After this happened, I learned that my experience was not unique. A simple search for “GSA” within the ArkServerAPI Discord, as well as in several private ARK plugin and modder communities, shows a consistent pattern of users and developers actively discouraging others from using GameServerApp. The most common reason cited is poor support quality and an inability to have open, constructive discussions when issues or concerns are raised. Several respected and well-known figures in the ARK development community have openly voiced concerns as well. Pelayori has encouraged server owners to move toward ASA Manager instead, while Wetbatman has directly stated that GSA provides horrible service and should be avoided. These are not random users, but experienced contributors within the ecosystem, and seeing consistent criticism from that level of the community carries weight. At a certain point, this becomes hard to ignore. When the ArkServerAPI development team itself is telling server owners to avoid GSA, and when a large portion of the ASA server-owner community is actively steering clear of what many describe as expensive micro-addons paired with limited or unresponsive support, it suggests there is a real underlying problem. If that many experienced developers and server operators are independently reaching the same conclusion, they are likely onto something. What stood out to me further is that even the creator of ArkServerAPI has publicly encouraged the use of ASA Manager, developed by Vasile Jianu. I am not mentioning this to promote another product, but to highlight how widespread dissatisfaction with GSA has become within the ecosystem. In contrast, Vasile Jianu even offered ASA Manager at no cost to users looking to transition away from GSA, which reflects a very different approach to community support and leadership. From my own observations, the owner Max frequently puts down other ARK plugin and mod developers publicly, which only adds to the negative perception surrounding the platform. Seeing respected developers and community leaders distance themselves from GSA reinforced that my experience was not an isolated incident, but part of a broader pattern. Users should be able to question pricing changes, feature removals, and long-term support decisions without fear of retaliation or losing access to their accounts. Healthy platforms encourage discussion, transparency, and accountability, especially when discontinuing critical infrastructure like self-hosted interservers. Unless there is a significant change in how this platform operates, I cannot in good faith recommend GameServerApp to anyone. That would require a dramatic reduction in pricing, the removal of the aggressive micro-addons pricing model, and a fundamental improvement in how customer support is handled. Users should not have to pay extra for basic functionality, nor should they fear censorship, account bans, or Discord moderation actions simply for seeking help or asking reasonable questions. Until GameServerApp demonstrates a willingness to engage transparently with its users and treat its community with respect, I will actively discourage others from using the platform and advise server owners to look elsewhere for solutions that prioritize fairness, communication, and real customer support.
