Had to Report Fraud to my Credit Card to get Refund

My initial experience was good, a supposed OEM headlight for half the price of BMW and they were helpful when placing the order on the phone. Then it came to returning the headlight (which didn't work - the garage had to order a full price OEM from BMW which worked first time) and GPs illegal returns policy and behaviour then came to the forefront. Note that their refund policy is buried in tiny font at the very bottom of their webpage. Distance selling rules mean that you cannot to refuse to refund clearance items or items that are in the sale, however GP says exactly this in their returns policy (if you are having trouble finding it, it is because they bury the link in tiny text at the very bottom of their webpage). When I returned my headlight they said it would be checked within 24hrs and then refunded promptly. I chased multiple times over several weeks, they ignored every single email. Eventually had to report the transaction as fraud to Barclaycard - I sent off all the proof and got a refund. WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. Tips if you really do want to deal with this company (which I don't recommend): Use a credit card for extra consumer protection, only communicate via email so that everything is in writing, understand your rights and distance selling rules, and finally don't expect the product to necessarily be OEM and actually work.

Dear Mr Wyld, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lengthy and detailed review. Having reviewed your order, our internal notes and the circumstances surrounding the return, we feel it is only appropriate to clarify a few points for the benefit of anyone reading. 1. Your order was placed over the telephone and, at your request, the headlight was held for approximately two weeks while you were away on holiday. By the time you later requested to return the item, you were already outside of our 28-day return period. Despite this, we agreed to accept the headlight back as a gesture of goodwill. When we asked the perfectly reasonable question of why you wished to return the item, rather than simply explaining the issue you were experiencing, you repeatedly declined to provide a reason and instead chose to remind us of your statutory rights as a consumer. We are, of course, familiar with consumer legislation. However, being told the nature of a problem does tend to make resolving it somewhat easier. 2. The headlight you returned was fully inspected and tested and was found to be fault-free. It was subsequently resold and fitted to another vehicle shortly afterwards without any reported issue. Our headlights are genuine OEM parts and are supplied with a 12-month warranty. Your garage advised you that the headlight was faulty and then went on to order a replacement directly from BMW. We can only speculate as to why their assessment differed from ours. It is, of course, worth noting that garages generally make more profit when supplying parts themselves rather than fitting parts sourced independently by customers. We will leave readers to draw their own conclusions. 3. In relation to your refund, we made repeated attempts to contact you because we required your card details in order to process the refund. We do not retain customers’ card details on file. Unfortunately, our calls went unanswered. As you can appreciate, issuing a refund becomes rather difficult when the person requesting it declines to communicate with the company attempting to process it. For that reason, describing German Parts as “fraudulent” is particularly disappointing. Fraud is a serious allegation and not a term that should be used casually, especially where the delay was caused by us being unable to obtain the information required to complete the refund. 4. Finally, our returns policy is broadly in line with the policies operated by main dealers and other businesses within the automotive parts industry. Items outside the stated return period are not ordinarily returnable, nor are items specially ordered at a customer’s request. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen dealerships operate similar policies. There is therefore nothing particularly unusual or unreasonable about the terms applied to your order. For future reference, when dealing with any company, answering their calls and providing a clear explanation of the issue is generally the quickest route to a resolution. Refusing to discuss the matter and then expressing dissatisfaction that it has not been resolved quite as quickly as expected is, naturally, somewhat counterproductive. Disapointed

I have never given a negative review, but on this occasion I feel I need to. I ordered a pair of BMW 5 series headlights at he end of January and they arrived 11th February, so far so good. Upon inspection, one of the headlights was missing a rear access panel, I was told a replacement would be sent – it is now middle of June and it has still not arrived! Several emails have been sent chasing delivery, but they are ignored and I get no response, this seems top match other reviews. The headlights are advertised as genuine headlights and pictures show a BMW logo on the lens, but they are stamped “made in China”, so after market copies. I feel the description is misleading.

Firstly, regarding the rear access cap, we understand your frustration with the delay. However, it is important to note that the headlights supplied with your order did not include these caps as part of the original specification. Despite this, once you contacted us, we arranged for replacement caps to be sourced and sent to you as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, they were lost in transit we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. To add the item you are referring to is only £15.00 from the main dealer, you could have easily procured one yourself or used the original ones from your old headlight. With regard to your comments about the headlights being advertised as genuine, the country of manufacture does not determine whether a part is genuine or not. Many vehicle manufacturers, including BMW, now produce components in a variety of countries around the world, including China, Mexico, and other international manufacturing facilities. In today's automotive industry, relatively few components are manufactured exclusively within the EU. A genuine BMW part remains genuine regardless of where BMW has chosen to manufacture it, provided it has been produced through BMW's approved supply chain. The presence of a "Made in China" marking does not indicate that a part is an aftermarket copy. We always strive to provide accurate product descriptions and support to our customers, and we regret that this experience has not met your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and apologise again for the delay relating to the replacement cap.

After a lot of research

After a lot of research, I came across German parts and decided to purchase the sport downpipes and have it installed along with other mods and I can honestly say that Im so glad I took that decision as the outcome was perfect in every way, but before that and most importantly is that dealing with Joseph was an absolute delight along with his exceptional team and his wonderful father (an ex car racer), super friendly and very hospitable. Joseph's experience is next to none when it comes to Mercedes and Im sure will be the same for all brands, but it's just the way they work is extremely professional. As for the GT-C I took to them, well, If you have any GT, do yourself a favour and take it to them so you can start really enjoying your car and I promise you won't be disappointed. Thank you so much, really happy.
