Delivery is a joke, dont bother.

So for about a month the car has been bust, local mechanics booked up, already having to spend ££ on taxis to work. Morrisons is the only company which does home delivery near us (quite rural) and we occasionally shop in our local morrisions so we assumed it would be okay. Every single week for five weeks food was either damaged, missing or replaced with things completely different (i.e milk replaced with sparkling water, veg replaced with chips/onion rings, chicken replaced with cheese?) And on top of it all almost every week every item apart from frozen/dry goods was due to go out of date within a few days, once or twice the same day and one time already expired. There have been times where there has been raw open sausages all over the rest of the items, eggs broken and leaking all over the rest of the food (which resulted in a bag of flour splitting and going absolutely everywhere when I picked it up, fun) items arriving already mouldy etc. We got refunds but only after having rang them each time, our delivery driver was always great and made sure to mark down every item that was missing/refused since without that its just that much harder to get a refund because they try to claim "if you didnt refuse it there mustnt be anything wrong" I could almost (very much almost) understand receiving items that are maybe 3 days away from their best before if I was only ordering a couple things, but if I am ordering a weeks worth of very obviously normal shopping I should not have to freeze 90% of it the day it comes because its literally almost out of date. We've had to spend the insane over the top prices buying the likes of milk, bread and vegetables from uber eats because the stuff we have been getting is just inedible or flat out missing. Its just making me think they are using online orders to get rid of old stock and its not acceptable, I am back to being able to drive to the shops myself but there are many older, disabled or otherwise ill people who have online deliveries as their only option and many of them simply dont have the time, energy or knowhow on how to complain or get a refund considering it usually takes me about an hour just to get through. For example a few years ago when I was house bound after major surgery I had to order shopping from morrisions, not a single problem back then and I used the online orders for 3 months so its not like i just got lucky either. Even once you get through its like talking to a brick wall unless you get the one in a million worker who actually tries to help you, Im convinced its intentional in hopes you give up and just take the loss.

I’ve decided to give Morrisons another…

I’ve decided to give Morrisons another chance to fulfill my order, but once again, they've failed. Previously, I waited patiently until the end of the delivery window, only to be informed that the driver encountered an issue and couldn’t deliver my order. After all that waiting, I received nothing. This time, I waited from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, only to receive an email at 9:27 PM stating: "We’re really sorry. We aim to fulfill all orders for our customers, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to cancel your order scheduled for August 30. We only decide to cancel when all other options have been considered." This is a disgraceful way to treat customers. This is now my third unsuccessful attempt with them, so what’s the point? With Asda, I am treated with respect, and my time is valued without any excuses. I made an effort to be home early for this delivery, and it turned out to be a waste of time. You cannot rely on Morrisons’ promises; just minutes before the delivery window closes, you will be told they cannot fulfill your order.

Morrisons acknowledged the problem but offered NO proper apology or compensation ⭐

I am registered blind and use specialised audible screen-reading software. On 18 August I received a delivery containing steak pies that were already past their use-by date. Fortunately my carer was here to spot them — had I been alone, I could easily have eaten food unfit for consumption, which is a serious health risk. Morrisons have now replied to my review. They say they are sorry, accept it was unacceptable, and have logged my feedback. That is all. What they have NOT done: • ❌ Offered meaningful compensation or a proper apology • ❌ Refunded or reduced the delivery cost • ❌ Suggested any further action or reassurance A simple "noted in our system" is not enough. I was given a partial refund for the pies themselves, but the delivery charge was never addressed, and no one acknowledged the extra worry and danger this caused me as a blind customer who cannot check expiry dates myself. Surely a simple check could prevent this? It strikes me — would it really be so difficult to ask delivery drivers to quickly check use-by dates for visually impaired or elderly customers when handing over an order? It takes but a moment, costs nothing, and would stop anyone receiving unsafe food. Yet nobody has even suggested introducing such a basic, caring step. Addendum: I want to be clear — I actually like shopping at Morrisons. Their bread is excellent, they stock items I cannot easily get elsewhere, and I have no wish to condemn the whole company. All I am asking for is fair treatment. Admit the full impact of this mistake, refund the delivery charge, and reassure me this won't happen again. That is not too much to ask. If you are visually impaired, elderly, or cannot inspect every item — you deserve a retailer who takes full responsibility when things go wrong. I hope Morrisons will yet step up and put this right. Bob Stoker Accessibility & Reviewer PS I wish to add and it is the only happened with this Review but when companies leave a reply, could they also leave a contact email address so that the same person can follow it up without it being passed from pillar to post
