Very disappointed with Hover’s customer service and handling of a cancellation request. I contacted Hover to cancel a domain and request a refund within the applicable cancellation timeframe. Unfortunately, my request was not dealt with properly, and I have now been told that because the domain subsequently renewed, they cannot refund me. What I find particularly frustrating is that the response focuses on the renewal date rather than the fact that I had already contacted Hover regarding cancellation. I shouldn’t be penalised because my request wasn’t actioned promptly. The domain is no longer needed and I’m not using it, yet Hover has refused to refund the renewal fee and I’ve had to repeatedly chase the matter and ask for it to be escalated. I’m now awaiting a proper response from their complaints/escalation team. Based on my experience so far, I’m very disappointed and would encourage anyone using Hover to make sure auto-renewal is switched off and to keep records of any cancellation requests.

Signed up, bought a domain (for parking). Assigned Nameservers. Everything was good. Until suddenly my purchase was refunded overnight with zero notice AND my account was 100% locked. Just straight up gone. Attempted to contact support, and was summarily ignored. No updates to the ticket, no notice, not even any kind of greeting. Hover.com is a garbage company. Do not use their services, do not give them your money.

Any organization that automatically applies auto-renewal to all orders, then makes it difficult to cancel, is using slimy business practices. That why Hover is slimy: Because they use this slimy business practice. Contact Hover immediately and have them turn off auto-renewal, otherwise they've got you right where they want you. By the way, they made a big deal about how it's their policy not to give refunds for unintentional auto-renewals, even if that means implying the client is lying when they tell them they already requested it be turned off. And they offered me a refund of $10 USD as a special "offer." That's right: They refer to screwing me over as an "offer." Slime. BTW, I also reported them to my bank's fraud department.

They're thiefs. Renew services without informing the customer. There's no way that's legal.

I've been a Hover customer for over 10 years and have approximately 15 domains registered with them. All of my domains were set to auto-renew, but my credit card had expired a few months ago and I forgot to update it. I own a business and have dozens of recurring payments every year. Virtually every other company I deal with sends a courtesy notice when a credit card on file has expired, giving customers a chance to update their payment information before service is interrupted. Hover doesn't appear to do this. On July 23, my domains attempted to renew, but the payment failed because of my expired card. By July 24, my website was offline and my business email stopped working. There was no grace period and no meaningful safeguard to prevent an immediate outage. I happened to be camping without service, so I didn't see the email in time. The result was that my company, with 13 psychologists, lost both our website and email for more than a day. To make matters worse, when I tried to log in to fix the payment issue, Hover's two-factor authentication kept sending verification codes to my business email address... the very email account that was no longer working because the domains had been suspended. It created a frustrating catch-22 that made resolving the issue even more difficult. I fully accept that I should have updated my credit card information. That's on me. But I also believe a company that promotes auto-renewals should have basic customer protections in place, such as notifying customers when the payment method on file has expired before renewal is attempted, or providing a reasonable grace period before taking critical business services offline. After this experience, I'll be transferring all of my domains to a registrar that has better safeguards in place for long-time customers.

Auch nicht für Geld. Unclaimed ist fair. Claimed gibt das Mikrofon — nicht den Radiergummi.
