Rip off and uncontactable customer service
READ THE SMALL PRINT! HP instant ink charged me £19.99 for printing a handful of pages over my £6.49 a month subscription - irrespective of the fact that I’d only printed 4 pages in the previous 2 months. They ignored my complaints and when I cancelled and explained why, charged me another months’s rate AND made the cartridges inactive within 14 days without notice - so that had now cost over £30 in a month and left me with a unusable printer. No capacity to complain or refund. Absolute rip off for anyone expecting flexibility.

Slow Ink Delivery
Ordered replacement cartridges 22nd August 2026 after receiving faulty cartridge previously. Waited 12 minutes to talk to customer services. Call, including wait lasted 20 minutes. Painful. Was told Royal (snail) Mail will delivery within 2 days. 3 days later and in total 10 days in - NO cartridges. If you run a small business and need to print this service is diabolical. I like the HP printers and considering giving up HP (not so) Instant Ink and buying a new printer!

STAY CLEAR: Expensive lesson; Instant Ink is a false economy
I’ve now cancelled HP Instant Ink after discovering just how expensive it becomes if you occasionally print more than your monthly allowance. I was on the 100-page plan at £6.49 per month. I had an unusual one-off need to print a large number of pages and printed 748 pages that month. My bill? £84.49, including £78 in additional-page charges. I fully accept that I went over my allowance. My issue is the disproportionate cost. HP charges £1.50 for every additional 10 pages, so a temporary increase in printing becomes incredibly expensive. For comparison, HP offers much higher monthly page plans for a fraction of what I was ultimately charged. When I challenged HP, I was simply told that additional pages are deliberately charged at a “premium” rate. To make matters worse, when you cancel Instant Ink, the Instant Ink cartridges can no longer be used once the subscription ends, even if they still contain ink. For someone like me who normally prints relatively little but occasionally needs to print a lot, Instant Ink simply doesn’t make financial sense. I’ve cancelled the service and bought normal cartridges instead. £84.49 was an expensive lesson, but I won’t be returning to Instant Ink. I will just buy cartridges from retail; as and when. Far cheaper, even when you need to print hundreds of pages.

“Servicio Instant Ink pésimo. Estoy suscrito y aun así me quedé sin tinta porque no enviaron los cartuchos a tiempo. El asistente no sirve, el soporte me atiende en inglés y ahora el envío tarda 10 días laborables. Un servicio que falla cuando más lo necesitas. Vergonzoso.”
