MUSE DIY EXTENSIONS WARNING. Hi everyone, I recently spent $771 AUD on these hair extensions from MUSE, which advertise themselves as safe to apply yourself at home. They are a long weft reverse tape method specifically designed for unqualified people to apply themselves. I watched all the videos of other people doing it, with everyone saying how amazing they are. I installed an entire kit plus an extra piece they offer, followed all the instructions, and was extremely careful to make sure I was doing everything perfectly. Because of this, it actually took me 2 hours, not the 20 minutes they state it should, but I wanted to take my time and make sure everything was perfect to prevent anything from going wrong. Despite this, I had nothing but issues, and after 6 hours I had no choice but to remove them all at 1am because of the pain. Here’s what I experienced: • The wefts did not lay flat against my head. They bumped up after application, despite me being extremely careful to lay them correctly. I even flattened them out overnight before applying them. • The reverse tape method makes it extremely difficult to ensure there is no tension. Even though I made sure I had clean, even sections, there is no way to guarantee that the hair on top falls down perfectly evenly. Even tiny, almost unseen hairs that get taped slightly crooked can create tension. • Taping one entire long weft from one side of the head to the other did not create the even tension they claim it does. I actually found the opposite. It created uneven pressure across my head and pulled on my hair from different angles, which seemed to create even more tension. I tried to wait out the discomfort because I know a little tenderness can be normal when getting extensions, but it kept getting worse. After a few hours, my whole head felt like my skull was being squeezed and my hair was constantly being tugged . This was despite being extremely careful during the application and making sure I wasn't intentionally placing any tension on my hair. I was so careful to prevent all of these issues, and I genuinely believe it comes down to the long-weft reverse tape method itself and the way it distributes tension across the head. The fact that these are advertised as being safe for anyone to apply themselves at home is, in my experience, not okay. This is serious and can be extremely painful. I’m sharing this because I wish I had seen someone talk about these potential issues before spending $771 and putting them in myself. I litteraly just threw $771 in the bin because I was so upset after removing them, having everything drenched in tape remover, being upset and extremely tired I just wanted to forget this ever happened, I could have washed them and tried to sell them used to make a little money back, but I didn't even want to put someone else through this aswell. In the bin everything went. Please be careful and do your own research before purchasing or applying them. Listen to real people's experiences not perfect tiktok reels created for views and sales.

We can completely understand how upsetting and frustrating that would have been, particularly after spending so much time carefully trying to install them. We did receive your email on Saturday morning, however unfortunately this review was posted before our team had the opportunity to respond, troubleshoot the installation with you, or offer any assistance. We really wish we had been given that opportunity, as several of the issues described in your review are things we can normally troubleshoot quite easily. For example, if a weft is not sitting flat against the head, it can usually mean the weft needs to be trimmed slightly to better fit the individual shape and width of the head. Our wefts are designed to be customised in this way where necessary. With the reverse application method, having a completely clean section is extremely important. There should be no stray hairs caught within the tape, as even a small amount of hair crossing into the section can cause pulling or tension. This is something we emphasise throughout our installation instructions because correct sectioning makes a significant difference to both comfort and the final result. Similarly, while one longer weft works extremely well for many of our customers, every head shape, hair density and installation is different. If tension is being experienced, we ask customers to send us photos of their installation so our team can look at the placement and sectioning and provide guidance on what they can adjust themselves. Often, small changes to the sectioning, placement or trimming of the weft can make a huge difference to how the extensions sit and feel. Had we been given the opportunity to see photos of your installation and troubleshoot these areas with you, we’re confident we could have guided you through some adjustments to help you achieve the comfortable result you were looking for. We also want to clarify the suggestion within this review that the positive experiences shown online are somehow not genuine or don’t come from real customer experiences. To dismiss the positive experiences of other customers simply because your own experience was negative is both unfair and inaccurate. Our reviews come from real customers, and thousands of people worldwide successfully wear and love their MUSE extensions. We absolutely acknowledge that the method may not be right for everyone, and as a DIY product there can be a learning curve, but the positive results and experiences shared by our customers are genuine and absolutely achievable. Most importantly, these extensions did not need to end up in the bin. Had we been given the opportunity to assist, we would have been more than happy to work through the installation with you and help determine exactly what was causing the discomfort. We absolutely respect that this review reflects your experience. MUSE is a DIY product, and very few people nail their installation perfectly on their first attempt. It requires patience, and sometimes a little guidance and troubleshooting while learning the method. Had we been given the opportunity and time to work through the installation with you, we’re confident we could have identified what was causing the issues and helped guide you towards a comfortable installation and a result you were happy with. I absolutely love MUSE for hair…

I absolutely love MUSE for hair extensions- have been using them for over a year now. Application and removal is so easy. My first set had an issue after a month or so and they sent me a replacement asap. Super easy to deal with. LOVE

I could not recommend Muse enough

I could not recommend Muse enough! ❤️ I’ve been wearing hair extensions for the past 20 years and, honestly, I feel like I’ve tried just about every application on the market. After my most recent combination of wefts and beads, I found my hair was so broken and damaged. I thought tape extensions would be the answer, so I gave them a go — but I found them so annoying and, not to mention, SO expensive. Every time I went to the hairdresser, I was easily spending $600+. I decided to try Muse for the first time and I honestly couldn’t be happier! The colour match was absolutely perfect, and I’ve been so impressed with how easy the DIY application has been. What I love most is that I finally feel like I can have beautiful, full hair without having to constantly spend hundreds of dollars at the hairdresser. It’s been such a game changer for me! 🥰 If you’ve been looking for an extension option that isn’t ridiculously expensive, is easy to apply and still gives you that gorgeous salon-quality look, I honestly can’t recommend Muse enough! ❤️✨

Easy application

I really love how easy it is to do the application myself. The only thing I would say is the end of the hair is incredibly dry even after oiling and conditioning the ends, the end of the hair is also very fine so it can look just a little choppy at times. But overall a solid 4/5 for this product very impressed with just a minor flaw
