Paid for a yearly Ultra Membership (the highest tier they offer) and did so in a lump sum payment because it was advertised as something like half the price of the amount I would’ve paid if I made 12 monthly payments instead. Anyway, that level entitled me to a lot of content creation, like a lot. And I created a lot trying to get my moneys worth. My subscription was around $1200, maybe a little more, but that’s a conservative close estimate. Several very serious problems with this one man company. 1) about 4 months into my subscription, I went to login for the day and instead of the website pulling up I received a notice saying that my subscription had been canceled. This was quite a shock as it came out of nowhere. Making matters worse, I no longer had the ability to reach reach out to anyone at PhotoAI to discuss it. As far as I can tell, the only way you contact Pieter (the founder, owner and sole employee) is through a link on the website. But again, I couldn’t even access the website and still cannot. The message on my screen also said that billing statements and things of that nature were available to me by clicking on a link that was provided. That was absolutely not true as the Link just redirected me to the company website which I obviously couldn’t access. So I spent $1200 for a year’s worth of access and got screwed out of about 2/3 of that amount with no plausible remedy. The owner makes it clear that the company is based in Holland, I’m guessing he resides there too. But it’s safe to say there’s no readily apparent remedy available to me (and I’m an attorney in the US). I don’t intend to serve him with a complaint using The Hague Convention. 2) sometimes the images turned out great but nearly half the time they turned out terrible, like not even close to what the prompt said and I know how to write prompts pretty well. Like it wasn’t even in the same ballpark. I didn’t expect 100% of the images I generated would be useable, but to have half of them be horrible, and another 30% mediocre at best and maybe 15% being decent, that means that only about 5-10% were what I was after. That’s a pretty poor rate. 3) even while i had access to the premium subscription that I paid over a grand for, there was a total lack of communication from the company when issues popped up. Here’s how it worked. If you were experiencing an issue you were to post about it on a website governing not only Photo AI but about a dozen other similar companies that Pieter runs. You would post about it and the post would be visible for other members to chime in on or vote down vote, you get the idea. Sounds reasonable. Only problem was that other than praise, Pieter would immediately delete all posts by users. So not only did you not get a resolution to your issue, but there was zero transparency as no other users ever got to see your post so no one knew if other people were experiencing the same thing. It was a very intentional crooked way of silencing the whole bunch of people that were unhappy with their experience, making those complaints literally disappear. As a user, it was beyond frustrating. Oh and keep in mind that even with well written prompts, you were likely to get only about 5 to 10% of photos that were on point. Sometimes the photos didn’t even turn out as anything, just a totally blank rectangle where the image was supposed to be. And I don’t mean one in 1 million, I mean that happened fairly regular, sometimes in very large batches. Yet when I posted about it raising the issue and asking that something would be done about it, including returning those credits to me, my post would immediately be deleted. Not only frustrating, it was very disempowering as you can imagine. Stay far far away from this company. I’m serious. There are so many AI companies out there today that there’s no reason to pick one like this, one man shop run by a person who won’t even bother to respond to the many issues you’ll experience if you disregard my advice and purchase a subscription. In hindsight, there’s no doubt in my mind that Photo AI and its alter ego Pieter cancel my subscription because it saw an opportunity to pocket my entire fee while only providing me a small fraction of the services I paid for. I suspect that that’s been the case with many other people as well, but as I mentioned above, Pieter does a great job silencing critics so i can only speculate at this point.

Avoid this site at all costs—it's limit a scam. The user experience is nightmare, and they make it impossible to cancel your sub. I had to go through Stripe to stop the payments, yet they are still trying to charge my card and blowing up my inbox with failed payment alerts. You can't even contact them for help because a popup blocks you from using the site entirely.

I was really disappointed by the platform. I paid 45 bucks and I only got one good photo, and even that wasn't as good as promised. I encourage everyone to not pay for this. Either try to find a better AI platform or try to get photos yourself. The pictures on the homepage before you log in showing the reviews are simply not true. Every single time I created a new AI model and tried to create a new character, my face just wouldn't look how it is, and my physique, which is very lean and athletic, would look worse in the pictures for some reason, which makes no sense.

I was using PhotoAI some time ago, and back then it created good images. Then the mode was changed, and now you can only create two types of images, but they look terrible. Completely unusable. They don’t resemble the avatar at all anymore. These images cannot be used. And you can no longer access the old avatar or the other mode. It was said that you would receive a refund if no credits had been used—which was the case for me—and if you left a message in a special complaint portal. That was supposed to be the only way to reach support. However, nobody responds there. No one reacts, there is no refund, and not even any contact. I cannot recommend this tool anymore. It’s a shame—it used to be good. Now it’s terrible and no longer creates usable photos.

Auch nicht für Geld. Unclaimed ist fair. Claimed gibt das Mikrofon — nicht den Radiergummi.
