Great service, nearly new car and no deposit hassle
Great experience with Protos Car Rentals in Heraklion! Picked up our car at Heraklion Port and dropped it off a week later at the airport. Service was excellent from start to finish, and the car itself was practically brand new (only 2000 km on the clock). They offer satnav devices if you need one, but since the car came with Apple CarPlay, we just used our own phones instead. Drop-off at the airport was surprisingly smooth. Despite it being high season with lots of people returning cars to various rental companies, it only took us about 2 minutes. The location is right in front of the terminal (arrivals/departures). Unlike most rental companies that ask for a hefty deposit (> € 1000), Protos doesn't require one if you take their full protection/insurance plan with no excess. Made it much more relaxed. Highly recommend Protos for anyone renting a car in Heraklion.

Unkomplizierter Kontakt und keine Verständigungsprobleme. Mit einer Mischung aus Deutsch und Englisch konnten wir uns gut verständigen. Der gemietete Dacia war frisch gewaschen und neuwertig. Tank zu 3/8 gefüllt. Wir hatten zu 5t gut Platz und der Kofferraum war riesig. Wenn wir wieder nach Kreta reisen, würde ich hier wieder mieten. Die Internetseite ist übersichtlich und der Buchungsprozess hat prima geklappt.

We picked up the car at Souda Port, and the car was already waiting for us before the ferry had even docked. The pickup process was quick and completely hassle-free. The car was a relatively new VW Polo and it was in very good condition. We had absolutely no problems during our trip. We also returned the car without any issues at Heraklion Airport. Although we picked up the car at a location without an office and returned it in a different city, we were not charged any significant additional fee for this arrangement. Overall price was really good according to other rental companies. The only things they asked us to be careful about were that the insurance would not cover any problems caused on unpaved roads, and that we should not get into the car wearing wet swimsuits, as an additional cleaning fee could apply in case of excessive dirt. We respected these rules, and everything went perfectly. Overall, a very smooth and pleasant rental experience. I would definitely recommend this company
