Paying Rough Trade for nothing!
I have ordered several times from Rough Trade and have never actually received any of my orders due to the items suddenly not being available despite saying in stock. I recently ordered a pre order album back in May for a July release. Release date arrived and the order still was unavailable. I waited until August and decided to purchase from Amazon. Rough Trade kept 8% of my payment despite them not being able to fulfil my order. Very poor company!

Placed an order a month ago and no sign of items
Placed an order of 4 items that were in stock and said they ship within 2-3 days… 3 weeks ago… still nothing. Reached out and was told by what I assume was an AI chat bot that it was preparing to ship out 07/10/2026. Still haven’t gotten any shipping update.

Took over a week from order to sending out
I ordered 3x records on the RT website that were all labelled as ‘in stock and ready to ship’ but i had to chase after 7 days of no movement. The only other interaction with ordering from RT was a similar experience, it took a long time and nothing changed with the order, so i cancelled it. It’ll take something special for me to order from them again as other shops seems to be much more on the ball than they do. When i did contact them, they responded very quickly

I’ve been a very loyal Rough Trade customer for many years. But recently, I’ve had several bad experiences. Orders are shipped with massive delays (lasting several months), are often incomplete, or (which is why I’m writing this review) don’t arrive at all. For the past six months, I’ve been put off time and again, only to now receive a message that my case is being closed and that another department will contact me at some point. I paid for the book long ago, and my faith that anyone will actually take care of sending it to me is now practically zero. What a shame, what a shame.

Order Canceled After Months of Waiting
After months of waiting on a record, I received an email stating it would be delayed. After about a month from that email, I was told my order was canceled "because we did not have enough stock to fulfill your order." How is a reputable business unable to keep accurate stock of inventory to sell more than they have? This is especially bad for consumers where vinyl collecting is on the rise again and it's not uncommon for other records to sell out across other providers thus leaving the seller to scope out the third party market with significantly increased prices. A realization of inventory/supply issues early in the process would have been fine. Instead, I missed a second wave of a record pressing because I was under the mistaken belief a record, I had paid for, was on the way. Careless at absolute best and would not recommend to anyone.
