Wow, great experience!…
I was gifted a used Ruffwear harness for my newly adopted shelter dog. Unfortunately he chewed on one of the plastic shoulder buckles and broke it so it would no longer snap into place. I figured contacting customer service about a replacement buckle was a long shot, but amazingly after a couple of prompt emails, they are sending a replacement free of charge! Excellent customer service!

Brand is actively harming your dogs - avoid at all costs
Knowingly have been harming dogs (and the environment) by using dangerous chemicals (PFAS) known to cause cancer, kidney and liver issues etc. They have used these chemicals in almost all of their range, including float toys which by nature will allow a dog to ingest these chemicals. No sense of accountability, no returns programme for any hazardous items and they are even continuing to sell this stock in 2026. Do NOT support this brand who have profited from harming your dogs and the environment without a second thought.

Excellent outdoor/adventure based dog brand
I was looking for reviews for what looks like a fake ruffwear website and was surprised to come across these reviews for Ruffwear the actual company, and I’ve felt compelled to leave my own review. I’ve only had to reach out to ruffwear a few times but they’ve always been incredibly responsive, and have had such a fantastic quality guarantee. I purchase many of their products and almost all of them have been fantastic. They did a site wide recall on one item we used to use that failed on us a few times but the company immediately replaced it with a credit. I’ve had so many positive experiences with the company and their products that I consistently recommend them to anyone seeking dog gear. They have equipment for just about everything, and for a wide variety of adventures. I thought my dog hated swimming but after realizing he couldn’t sink in his float coat, he picked up on it fast! I’ve been overjoyed that he has found something else to enjoy on our adventures together. I hope these are legitimate reviews for their actual products and actual company because my experience has been overwhelmingly opposed to what so many have written here. If you have any doubts, I recommend going to any premium pet store or outdoor retailer that actually carries legitimate ruffwear products and inspect them for your dog yourself. I’ve worked with dogs and dog owners for many years, and have had the opportunity to try a lot of different dog products over the years, and Ruffwear has always been a brand I’ve considered to have a strong consistency in quality, and reliable in standing behind any product they release. If for any reason something isn’t working for enough people, I have no doubt the company would move to remedy it. There is a large community of outdoor dog owners who stay loyal to this brand, for good reason.

Unfortunately, my experience with this harness has been disappointing
I purchased this Ruffwear harness on May 8 and have been using it for exactly one month. Yesterday, I noticed that one of the plastic adjustment components had cracked. When the harness arrived, I expected the attachment point for the leash clip to be made of metal. However, it feels more like plastic—perhaps a higher-quality material, but it appears to be coated or finished to look like metal. I am disappointed because the harness has not been used for very long. The design is excellent, it is lightweight, comfortable, and overall looks great. Unfortunately, the hardware and small components raise concerns about durability and quality, especially considering the price.
