Vacanza rovinata – esperienza pessima

Abbiamo trascorso una vacanza in barca con i miei amici quest’estate ed è stata purtroppo un’esperienza davvero deludente. La barca era in condizioni pessime: sporca già alla consegna, con cabine rotte, zanzariere strappate, bagni otturati che emanavano un odore costante di fogna, e una scaletta rotta che rendeva difficile anche fare il bagno. Il frigo era arrugginito, il gas non funzionava, e in generale tutto sembrava trascurato e non manutenuto da tempo. Abbiamo provato a contattare il referente, ma nessuno ha risolto i problemi, rendendo impossibile godersi la vacanza. Davvero una vacanza rovinata e un’esperienza che non consiglio assolutamente a nessuno. Rapporto qualità-prezzo inesistente e totale mancanza di professionalità.

Salve Terry, ci dispiace che la vostra locazione non sia stata apprezzata. Teniamo molto alle recensioni dei clienti, ancora di più quando diventano un motivo di critica migliorativa. Devo però contestare quanto scritto. Parliamo di una imbarcazione del 2020 che ha lavorato oltre 20 settimane quest'anno senza mai avere un claim o una lamentela che ha come unico difetto piccoli dettagli estetici dati dall'usura della stagione che verranno ripristinati alla prima settimana di fermo. Sottolineo come presa coscienza del problema della pulizia sia stato proposto un rimborso di valore superiore alla stessa verbalmente accettato. Dispiace vedere come dopo la settimana passata senza alcuna lamentela addizionale si ricevino recensioni e richieste di rimborso assolutamente pretestuose a fronte del servizio reso. Speriamo comunque che avremo nuovamente occasione di navigare insieme e modificare l'idea che vi siete fatti di noi.

Una delle peggiori vacanze di sempre

Una delle peggiori vacanze di sempre. La barca era vecchia, sporca e maltenuta: bagni otturati e maleodoranti, zanzariere rotte, scaletta rotta, cabine rovinate, frigo arrugginito e gas non funzionante. È assurdo che una barca in queste condizioni venga affittata a dei clienti! Abbiamo segnalato tutto subito, ma nessuno ha fatto nulla per aiutarci. Vacanza completamente rovinata, zero rispetto per chi paga. Un’esperienza da dimenticare e una compagnia assolutamente da evitare.

Esperienza negativa con Sailing Sicily – Barca consegnata con numerosi problemi e dotazioni mancanti

La nostra esperienza con Sailing Sicily è stata deludente e frustrante. Alla consegna, la barca presentava diverse inefficienze e mancanze inaccettabili per un noleggio professionale: Spryhood danneggiato o inutilizzabile Salpaancore non funzionante correttamente Tavolino del pozzetto che non rimaneva aperto Porta del bagno difettosa Porta della cabina da letto malfunzionante Tambuccio usurato e difficile da manovrare Mancanza di asciugamani e lenzuola nonostante fossero previsti Windex non funzionante Autopilota guasto Questi problemi hanno reso la navigazione e la permanenza a bordo scomode e, in alcuni casi, poco sicure. Per il prezzo pagato, ci aspettavamo un’imbarcazione in piena efficienza e dotata di tutte le attrezzature previste. Sconsiglio questa compagnia a chi cerca serietà, manutenzione accurata e rispetto per il cliente.

Title: Unsafe Boat, Unfair Practices – A Cautionary Tale

Our charter with Sailing Sicily was one of the worst experiences we have ever had at sea. The boat delivered had serious and dangerous technical issues: the main engine was unreliable and the furling system failed during the trip. These are not minor inconveniences — they are safety hazards that should have been addressed before handing over the vessel. Assistance was slow and dismissive, leaving us to manage stressful and unsafe situations on our own. Instead of taking responsibility, the company tried to pressure me into signing an unfair waiver in order to release my security deposit. When I refused to sign, they unjustifiably withheld €1,379 from my deposit without any proper documentation or legal basis. This behaviour is unprofessional, unethical, and shows complete disregard for customer safety and rights. Sailing Sicily not only failed to deliver a seaworthy vessel, but also attempted to shift the consequences of their negligence onto their customers. For anyone considering a charter with this company: think twice. There are many other operators who value safety, transparency, and fairness — Sailing Sicily is not one of them.

As often happens, unfortunately, the narrative presented does not represent the objective reality of the facts. The boat presented no safety issues: it was rented only with positive feedback in the weeks before and after. We cannot comment on the captain's technical expertise (although this should always be taken into account in rental agreements). The boat presented no safety issues. The "broken" engine not only restarted without problems, but when it was inspected the next morning by a mechanic, he confirmed that no repairs were required. On the other hand, the boat was delivered to the customer sooner than contractually agreed. The only real inconvenience the customer experienced (for which I would not rule out holding him responsible) concerned a zipper on the boat's awning that broke AFTER its first sailing due to the customer's constant attempts to tighten it. Furthermore, following both the navigation code and common sense, any responsible captain would never use a vessel with serious maintenance problems for two weeks, putting himself and the crew at risk. In fact, the client's requests immediately appeared unfounded and specious. Despite this, in an effort to maintain a business relationship with the client and protect the relationship with the agency that procured him, the offer was made not to charge for the cost of garbage bags left on board (ignoring the general cleanliness of the vessel) and the cost of an outboard motor broken by the client. In addition to all of the above, a €200 voucher for future vacations was offered. The value of the offer exceeded €1,500. Before carrying out this commercial transaction, we were asked to sign a release that protected both parties from any future claims (us for the customer's claims and him for the damages caused). Since the customer refused to accept this and expressed his willingness to pursue legal action, we proceeded with the standard procedure, withholding the deposit as compensation for the damages he caused. I emphasize that to date, the casing of the engine he broke is still available for analysis and collection. From the beginning, we demonstrated complete openness to closing the matter quickly and fairly, sacrificing our right to reimbursement for damages, but we found ourselves forced by the customer's decisions to proceed as described.

Title: Neglected Boat and No Support – Holiday Ruined

I joined a sailing holiday expecting a relaxing trip, but from the very first day the boat was in terrible condition. The windlass worked only occasionally — and there was no spare remote. It was finally repaired on July 13, but by then we had already lost valuable time. The sprayhood was torn and unusable, still under repair as of July 14. The forward hatch wouldn’t close. The mainsail couldn’t fully retract into the mast. The bathroom door kept swinging open. The bedroom door handle came off in my hand. The stove gimbal was tilted and couldn’t be locked. The cockpit table wouldn’t stay open. On top of that, there were no towels, the second set of bed linen was missing, and there were only two glasses on board. Because of all these problems, we couldn’t even leave port for days. The base manager, Pietro, was never reachable. I left him a WhatsApp message on July 12 and never got a reply. The local contact in Cannigione, Matias, told me bluntly: “If you don’t like the boat, you can get off,” in front of other staff. I had planned to sail to Corsica, but because of the ongoing repairs during my charter week, I couldn’t make the trip. This cost me money for ferry tickets, park fees for La Maddalena, and all my travel arrangements. The only positive note was Paolo from the staff, who kept trying to fix things, but by the time he finished, it was already midday on July 14. This was a deeply disappointing experience, and it completely ruined my holiday. Date of experience: 12–14 July
