Good Support Response, but Too Many Recurring VPS and SPanel Issues
**★★★☆☆ I have been using ScalaHosting's VPS service for some time, and unfortunately my experience does not match the near-perfect reviews I often see online. To give credit where it is due, their live chat support is generally quick to respond and the support staff are polite and willing to investigate problems. That is probably the strongest part of the service. However, the actual hosting experience has been much less consistent. I have encountered repeated issues with SPanel, occasional significant slowdowns, and other problems that I have had to discover and report myself. Most recently, I experienced serious speed/performance problems which support later acknowledged may be related to their data center and confirmed had already been reported for investigation. I have also experienced issues accessing parts of their own customer/support system. I tested the same problem using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox, yet initially I was advised that it could simply be browser cache or cookies. Eventually another ticket had to be created for that problem as well. This is really my main concern with ScalaHosting: **I feel like I am frequently reporting problems that should ideally be detected and monitored by the hosting provider before customers have to raise them.** For a managed VPS service, reliability and proactive infrastructure monitoring are extremely important. When your website or server suddenly becomes slow, you should not have to contact support first to find out whether there is an infrastructure or data-center issue. The support team responding quickly is certainly appreciated, but fast customer support does not compensate completely for recurring technical problems. At this stage I would rate ScalaHosting **3 out of 5 stars**: **Positives:** responsive live chat, polite support staff, usually willing to investigate. **Negatives:** recurring SPanel/platform issues, occasional serious performance problems, problems that seem to be discovered by customers rather than proactively communicated, and too much time spent troubleshooting/reporting issues. I hope ScalaHosting invests more in proactive monitoring, SPanel stability and infrastructure reliability. If those areas improve, I would be happy to update my review, but based on my experience so far I cannot justify a 5-star rating.

They moved the website over from a prior webhosting service and got things set up and working reasonably well to begin with. But then something changed and the "tech support" was an abject failure. They sent email after email with no instructions, no meaningful information about what the problem was and told me to fix it. The first was 8-15-26 and today (8-23-26) they just declared that the website can execute only one PHP FPM process at a time. The CPU usage was high, but why it was high is something I do not know and they didn't even bother to look into. I made NO changes to the website. What they moved over is what was running on the prior host. Over and over this email demanding that I fix the CPU usage was repeated. Finally someone went in and did what they wanted me to do (install CloudFlare and some AI bot blocking program), and that did not fix their problem. So they didn't have it right to start with. I also went in and deleted the only page that allowed a visitor to send an email to me. But they just set my webpage to one PHP FPM process at a time. They didn't step it down, they didn't figure out what was causing this issue, they didn't do anything but send me emails demanding that I fix it. If you do not know how to do all your own computer/web programing DO NOT USE THIS GROUP!! I cannot stress this enough, they offered nearly zero actual technical support. You have will have to do all of your own technical support. I have lost almost a full work week trying to fight my way through Spanel and find something that I could do to lower whatever it was that would cause their servers to be doing whatever it was that they were doing for that CPU usage. But I never figured it out and they never even tried. They just shut my website down " 1 PHP FPM process." I very sincerely regret believing the prior reviews of the company. This is not a company anyone wants hosting a website and email addresses that are important to them.
