I found our website listed on Scam Detector with a mediocre trust score, generated by their algorithm mostly from popularity metrics, even though all their own checks (domain age, blacklists, HTTPS) were green. I wrote to them once, explained who we are and provided proof of our company registration and history. They reviewed everything, replied politely, and corrected the score to reflect reality. No fees, no upsell, no strings attached — just a normal, human review process. As a business owner, this is what I'd want from any reputation platform: a working appeals process handled by real people. Their consumer care team (thank you, Selma) was professional and thorough. If your legitimate business ended up with an unfair automated score there, don't get angry — just write to them with your documentation. It works.

I run a clean, well-maintained website with no blacklist entries, no bad reviews, and 100% safety ratings from every other reputable source. Yet Scam-Detector insists on giving me a mysteriously low score—one that dropped further after I contacted them. Their latest claim? My domain is "detected on blacklist engines." But here’s the catch: I’ve checked every major blacklist, and my site isn’t on any of them. Scam-Detector does not disclose where they found this supposed blacklisting, nor do they explain their "53 powerful factors" used to assess risk. No proof, no details, nothing in writing. Upon digging deeper, I discovered Scam-Detector is owned by Zeus, LLC dba Guiding Tech Media, a company with zero public financial records and $16M in funding from The Phoenix Fund—a Puerto Rico-based private equity firm. Both entities operate in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory known for its tax advantages, regulatory flexibility, and lack of transparency requirements for private companies. Ownership structures there can easily shield who’s really behind the operation, and no public disclosures are mandated. Here’s the irony: A company that profits from rating the trustworthiness of others is itself meticulously hidden from scrutiny. They demand transparency from the sites they review but provide none of their own. If this isn’t a red flag about their credibility and motives, what is? Avoid Scam-Detector. A "trust" service that hides its own ownership, funding, and methodology while assigning baseless low scores is the real scam.

Scam detector sites that hand out false assessments just to drive their own traffic are especially damaging to businesses—particularly new ones still trying to get off the ground. Their algorithms are outdated. Half the claims they make contradict each other. I have contacted them numerous times and supplied all the necessary documentation, yet nothing changes. Instead of relying on their so-called 53-point system, they should actually investigate the sites that get reported and assess them properly—rather than targeting high-traffic companies so they can leech off them. This company appears more interested in defending certain businesses than protecting consumers or fairly reviewing. I give 1-star because I have to. Be warned: old technology paired with outdated advertising tactics. Buyglobe
