Bester Arbeitgeber meines Arbeitslebens (über 25 Jahre ;) )
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich: flache Hierarchie, gute Arbeitsatmosphäre, tolle Gemeinschaft, Industriecharme des Büros in der Tabakfabrik Arbeitsatmosphäre: ALLE sind freundlich, offen und wertschätzend! Work-Life-Balance: flexible Arbeitszeiten, kurzfristiger Urlaub möglich Karriere/Weiterbildung: Vorgesetzte sind für Vorschläge offen Gehalt/Sozialleistungen: pünktliche Gehaltszahlung, Bio-Obst, gemeinsames Frühstück Vorgesetztenverhalten: Meinung: Hatte noch nie angenehmere und fairere Vorgesetzte! Arbeitsbedingungen: Moderne EDV, man bekommt alles was man braucht! Kommunikation: regelmäßige Info´s über Ziele und Erfolge Interessante Aufgaben: Workload angemessen, Einfluss auf Projekte

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich: Die Flexibilität & Wertschätzung. Gemeinsame Lunches & Breakfasts sind top! Verbesserungsvorschläge: bis dato keine - alles prima! :) Arbeitsatmosphäre: Angenehmes Betriebsklima, sehr locker und entspannt Work-Life-Balance: Hybrid-Work, sehr flexible Arbeitszeiten, viel Verständnis für Familien/Mütter - Familie und Job lässt sich gut vereinbaren! Karriere/Weiterbildung: Es gibt Personal Developer, die dafür Sorgen, dass man sich in die gewünschte Richtung weiterentwickelt und seinen career path erreicht Kollegenzusammenhalt: Das Team ist eine tolle Einheit, alle sind sehr offen und helfen einander Vorgesetztenverhalten: Vorbildlich - auf Augenhöhe, nehmen sich viel Zeit für die Mitarbeiter! Friendly work environment, but high work load with often pivoting direction
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich: I actually enjoyed working there. colleagues & team work works very well. there are several high potentials in the company. the company culture, which owners and mgmt actively promote is very open and welcoming. onboarding and offboarding process is done well. strong focus on People & Culture helps. flexible work hours. Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich: vision is unclear or seems to change a lot. i missed structure and clear goals during my time at smec. a lot is done ad-hoc. work load is too much and in no relation to the salary, if you dont actively push back on it. location of Linz office is not super-easy to reach by public transport, but good with a bike Verbesserungsvorschläge: clarify and stick to vision. provide more structure and direction to get rid of redundant tasks Arbeitsatmosphäre: in general quite good Image: ok in the PPC field, i guess Work-Life-Balance: not adequate for salary level Karriere/Weiterbildung: depends; very good internal onboarding, little or no other, more general trainings. Gehalt/Sozialleistungen: in absolute terms okay, but in my opinion for the general workload rather on the lower level (depending on which other companies you compare it to). but there are perks like parties, etc. Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein: there are efforts Kollegenzusammenhalt: very positive Umgang mit älteren Kollegen: good as far as I can tell Vorgesetztenverhalten: depends. In general good intentions and open communication and collaborative culture, but not always structured enough to provide good guidance; regular changes in direction of vision Arbeitsbedingungen: nice offices, macbook, flexibility from where you work. offices in nice locations. telephone booths for calls exist, but are small and quickly have bad air inside. both offices have open floor plans (which is pretty much industry standard) - if you like this, perfect. if not, you might get distracted more easily Kommunikation: mgmt makes efforts to communicate very openly, but the not so positive information is often sugar-coated and not transparent Gleichberechtigung: there are efforts. still male-dominated top mgmt. Interessante Aufgaben: depends, but in general yes. if you are proactive, you can co-define some of your work

Amazing people but the company lacks long-term vision
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich: - The amazing colleagues - Weekly team lunches & breakfast - Equipment (Apple hardware, home office equipment) - Mental & physical health initiatives - Linz office is pretty cool from an architectural point of view, Vienna office is very convenient - They really tried to make the off-boarding process for laid-off employees as easy as possible and provided support (kudos to the People & Culture team!) - Meetups & parties are really fun Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich: - Lack of vision from leadership - Too many cooks spoil the broth: Often there were many people with different agendas involved in one project, making it hard to work in an agile & fast way. This causes the company to lose valuable time to respond to the changing customer & market needs. Verbesserungsvorschläge: - Be more transparent if the company is struggling. - Appreciate and support your in-house talent. There are so many knowledgable people in the company that would be dearly missed if they ever left smec. Arbeitsatmosphäre: Depends on the team. In my case, the overall work environment was very good, transparent & open. It was a pleasure to work with highly-motivated people. However, this positive vibe is not the norm for every department/team. Especially client-facing units seemed to struggle due to competitiveness between the teams. Image: Depends on who you ask - outside of the online retail sector barely anyone knows them. They try really hard to keep up their good employee ratings to be attractive to talent. Work-Life-Balance: Depends on the department or team you work in. While there were some fixed meetings throughout the week, the rest of the working day was rather flexible. They allow home office for 2 days a week. Unfortunately, their remote work policy to work from abroad is rather rigid. Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein: Waste separation, organic snacks, collecting donations for Ukraine & Christmas - so it could be more Kollegenzusammenhalt: In my team it was excellent Umgang mit älteren Kollegen: There were only few older employees Vorgesetztenverhalten: Sometimes it seemed like leadership was relying on their gut feeling instead of data when making decisions. Ad hoc changes in strategy and re-prioritizations were very common, making work unpredictable. Employees are rarely asked for their opinions. Arbeitsbedingungen: Good equipment, however no adjustable desks in the Linz office (only in Vienna) Kommunikation: smec prides itself on communicating openly & transparently (e.g. through meet ups & townhall meetings), but only if it's something positive. The bad news about the company you'll only hear through the grapevine. One specific example: They started booking rooms for employees for a company event only a few days before laying off a significant amount of people. No signs from leadership that the company was struggling before, but many people already suspected something like this had to happen. Gehalt/Sozialleistungen: Industry-average Gleichberechtigung: C-level is male-only and only a couple of women are in leading positions. Other than that it seems that whoever is friends with the higher-ups gets the promotion - it's getting more and more political.

great place to work
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich: very cool onboarding system for new employees, open communication, being able to work remotely, always a lot of fun in the office breakfast & lunch Verbesserungsvorschläge: focus a bit more on people's mental health - many people seem stressed out Arbeitsatmosphäre: even though people seem very stressed out at work, there's almost always a good atmosphere, everybody is open-minded for conversations :) Work-Life-Balance: especially with being able to work remotely or 10 days abroad/year, smec really focuses on work-life-balance - there are also yoga classes & employees have access to psycholgists which is also great Gehalt/Sozialleistungen: + bonussystem Kollegenzusammenhalt: can only speak for my team but we support each other wherever and whenever we can - there are also many teamevents at smec that help with strengthening work relationships Kommunikation: quite transparent way of sharing information regarding the company but also when it comes down to oneself - open communication, no hidden discussions
