A year with SoundCloud – and still very happy
I've been using SoundCloud for about a year now to share my own music, DJ mixes and other music-related content, and overall I've had a very positive experience with the platform. For an independent artist, I particularly like having direct control over my uploads and releases, as well as being able to see how people are actually discovering and listening to my music around the world. The insights and statistics are useful, and SoundCloud has become an important part of how I share my music. I recently also had my first real experience with their support and copyright process. One of my own tracks was automatically removed after my distributor was identified as the rights holder in certain territories. I submitted a copyright dispute explaining that I am the artist and rights owner and that I upload my music to SoundCloud myself. The issue was reviewed and the track was reinstated very quickly. I also contacted support separately, and received a helpful personal response confirming that the content had been restored. Mistakes in automated copyright systems can happen — what matters to me is how they are handled when they do, and in this case SoundCloud handled it quickly and professionally. After approximately one year on the platform, I'm still very happy to use SoundCloud and particularly appreciate having a place where I can directly manage and share my music with listeners around the world. I’ve been using SoundCloud as an independent artist and producer, but their current monetization policy has made the platform significantly less attractive to me. My track was excluded from monetization because generative AI was involved in the production process, despite the fact that I have the necessary rights to release and monetize my music. What makes this particularly frustrating is that SoundCloud currently accepts AI-assisted music created with certain approved integration partners, while music created using other tools can be rejected from monetization. In my opinion, this is an arbitrary distinction. What should matter is whether the artist has the legal rights to the finished recording — not which production tool was used. The support experience made things worse. I was repeatedly directed toward a copyright dispute process even though there was no third-party copyright complaint against my track. The actual issue was SoundCloud’s AI monetization policy. As a paying artist who actively releases music, I expect clear policies, competent support and equal treatment of legally owned music. If SoundCloud continues down this path, I will simply release less of my catalogue there and focus on platforms with more practical policies for modern music production. Very disappointing experience.

Soundcloud is a joke
Soundcloud is a joke - they were overcharging me and every time i went to unsubscribe they made it impossible from my device. Not until I got my computer out of storage was I able to properly login and unsubscribe from this shitty service. Every other music streaming service has been easier and more accessible and im suprised this shitty brand is still able to host music on their site. Useless.
