Extremely disappointing application…
Extremely disappointing application process I applied to become a tutor with Spires several months ago and was extremely disappointed with the way my application was handled. After waiting months for a decision, I received a generic rejection stating that they had reviewed my profile and CV and would not be proceeding. There was no interview, no conversation with me, no teaching demonstration and no attempt to assess how I actually interact with or teach students. I find it very questionable that a tutoring platform can decide whether somebody is suitable to teach purely from a CV and profile without assessing their actual tutoring ability. A CV cannot show how well a tutor explains difficult concepts, builds rapport with students, adapts lessons or supports students who are struggling. What made the experience worse was that, after such a long wait, they stated that they could not provide any individual feedback due to the volume of applications. I am an experienced tutor and am fortunately doing extremely well elsewhere, with many positive reviews and students, so I certainly don’t need Spires to validate my ability as a tutor. However, I expected a much more professional and respectful recruitment process. Based on my experience, the application process felt impersonal, unnecessarily slow and poorly designed.

The whole process of Spires is super…
The whole process of Spires is super simple. My tutor Dr. Megha helped me throughout my AS year to achieve an A in my economics paper-2 exam which pulled my overall grade up to a high B. The tutoring sessions were focused and always made sense, if you are in need of an economics teacher I would highly recommend Dr. Megha .

A-Level in Economics
We used Dr Megha for our son’s economics’ A-levels. It was only for less than 2 months before the exam and for very specific issues: understanding questions to answer them properly and exam techniques. She listened closely to what was required and gave our son what he was missing. He achieved an A (only 2 marks off an A*). She was very flexible with timings and number of lessons required. Her feedback was very helpful.
