Not a reputable business
Closed on a home construction loan. Terms were 18 months interest only, then conversion to an amortizing mortgage. When my house was not completed within 18 months, I asked for a 60 day extension. TD denied the request, saying an extension required proof of a hurricane or other natural disaster. When I asked for the contract provision they were relying on for this position, I was provided a document that indicated that a 6 month extension was available on payment of a $525 fee, no other requirement listed. I tendered the $525 and asked for the stipulated extension. Instead of complying with their own documents, they began charging me interest on money I had never borrowed in a mortgage. There are reputable banks out there; TD is not one.

I received a notification on my TD…
I received a notification on my TD credit card on 8/27 for: Merchant Name: MINIMUM CHARGE Amount: 1.00. I called TD about it. They said it was a charge from TD because I had not paid off my full statement balance. They said it was in the customer agreement. I was more confused after I hung up with them. In desperation I Googled it. It turns out that the charge was a minimum interest charge. If your credit card has a low balance, they charge you a minimum of $1 in interest. Not only was the transaction description vague, but the agent I spoke to led me to believe it was some kind of penalty for not paying off my entire credit card balance.

Positive Experience with a Customer Service Representative
I would especially like to recognize the TD Visa Customer Service representative who assisted me, whose name I believe was Simran, although I apologize if I have remembered or spelled it incorrectly. What remained with me after the call was the unusual degree of patience, attentiveness, and composure she brought to the conversation, listening closely enough to understand the substance of my concern without requiring me to repeatedly restate it, while communicating with a clarity that made an otherwise frustrating matter considerably easier to navigate. There was a warmth in the way she spoke with me that coexisted naturally with her professionalism and efficiency, and the cumulative effect was an interaction in which I felt genuinely listened to and taken seriously. I hope TD is able to identify her through the TD Visa Customer Service call record and ensure that this feedback reaches her, because the quality of service she provided reflected exceptionally well on TD and deserves recognition.
