Real-world knowledge, taught by working professionals
I joined The Curated Lab to learn more about professional retouching and workflows, especially in fashion and beauty photography. The platform is run by Jan Wischermann and Per Appelgren, both active industry professionals, so the content reflects current techniques and real-world standards. Tutorials cover topics like studio lighting, Capture One workflows (raw development and colour grading), and Photoshop retouching for editorial and commercial imagery. One of the main benefits for me has been discovering new techniques and workflows, gaining insight into how professionals approach their work, and having the opportunity to ask Jan and Per questions directly about retouching and the industry. I think The Curated Lab is a great resource for photographers and retouchers at different levels, but you'll get the most out of it if you already have a basic understanding of photography or retouching. It's also a useful platform if you're pursuing a career in fashion or beauty photography or retouching. Overall, The Curated Lab offers a good combination of tutorials, professional insight, and personalised feedback.

TCL is absolutely awesome
TCL is absolutely awesome. I learned so many things about lighting, color grading and retouching it completely changed the way I work now. If you're a photographer oder retoucher wanting to level up your work, this course is a must.

Supportive Community in an Industry Desperate for One
One of the biggest challenges of being a photographer and retoucher is how professionally isolating it can be. Peers tend to keep to themselves or are protective of their processes and techniques. It's been a real gift to connect with Per and Jan and the rest of the TCL community. I've been doing this work for about 10 years and was thrilled to find that their videos and walkthroughs taught me things I didn't know to do or thought were possible. The regular live sessions are also a real gift. I recently had a live portfolio review and found Per and Jan's feedback both sharp and supportively critical. It's incredibly rare in this field. This group is like water in the desert, and I'm so excited to drink up!

Worth every penny
To me, Curated Lab was totally worth the investment. Per and Jan are top professionals who don’t gatekeep their years of experience. They’re always sharing valuable insights, even when you already think you know a topic. Learning how professionals work day to day, along with tips on how to be faster, more accurate, and make the whole process easier, is something you’ll never learn just from a YouTube video. The community is also great. Curated Lab feels like a place that genuinely cares about helping develop talent rather than just making money from mediocre content, like some other communities or learning experiences I’ve had in the past that rely on weak, basic AI-generated content. Per and Jan really take the time to break down lighting, editing techniques, professional business tips, portfolio reviews, and much more.
