Vestiaire approves counterfeit products
Update after Vestiare’s response to ref. 68773524). Your response does not address the actual issue I raised in my review. Repeating that your own authentication team has examined the sunglasses twice and concluded that they are authentic is not a satisfactory answer when the entire basis of my complaint is that your authentication process appears to have failed twice. I personally took these sunglasses to a Bottega Veneta flagship store, where I was clearly told that they were not authentic. That is a direct assessment from the brand itself. Simply responding with another list of boxes your internal experts claim are “compliant” does nothing to explain why your conclusion directly contradicts Bottega Veneta’s assessment. I also strongly dispute your statement that the packaging is “compliant”. As described in my original review, the cleaning cloth has a visibly crooked Bottega Veneta logo in what does not even appear to be the correct font, and the case is poorly made, too small for the sunglasses, has uneven stitching and a barely functioning magnetic closure. These are not minor concerns, and yet your response provides no explanation whatsoever as to how these obvious discrepancies were assessed. Most importantly, relisting the sunglasses under my account is NOT a resolution. I will not accept responsibility for reselling an item that Bottega Veneta itself has told me is counterfeit. I should not have to pass these sunglasses on to another customer, nor should I have to suffer a financial loss because Vestiaire Collective refuses to take responsibility for its own authentication process. I paid Vestiaire Collective specifically for the security of an authentication service. If that service approves an item that the brand itself subsequently identifies as fake, the financial risk should sit with Vestiaire Collective — not with me. I therefore do not want the sunglasses returned to me, and I do not consent to being made responsible for reselling them. The appropriate resolution is very simple: refund me the full amount I paid and take responsibility for the item yourselves. What Vestiaire Collective chooses to do with the sunglasses afterwards should be Vestiaire Collective’s responsibility, not mine. Until that happens, I do not consider this matter resolved. Repeating the same internal authentication conclusion for a third time does not answer my complaint, does not address Bottega Veneta’s assessment, and does not restore any confidence in your authentication process.
