Misadvise to customer

Unfortunately my 1st time experience with Vets4pets Bagshot branch is let down by it's front desk/receptionists/customer service. I've got a puppy who is 11wks, already had 1st vaccination with breeder, hence I arranged 2nd vaccination with Vets4pets Bagshot. Despite my calls to this branch and spook to its receptionists, unfortunately they missed a very important piece of information that is if 2nd vaccination late just for one day, this can invalid pet insurance. Both Receptionists & Vets only advised me that I need to sign a declaration, but failed to advise me Pet insurance can be invalided regardless declaration. If they say this in advance, I could re-arrange the date to ensure 2nd vaccination is on the date that is required. This directly resulted I had to re-starts puppy vaccination, and impact of this is not just puppy suffers another jab, also delayed puppy goes outdoor due to not finishing initial vaccination. Also I had no choice but sign on a Pet care contract as if not, I will be charged initial vet consultation fee and 1st vaccination. I think this branch problem is staffs especially reception say "Yes" too quickly to eager, feel like they have a sales target, so they have to make sales regardless and careless to give information/advice. The vet is very nice, gentle to the puppy and I can see puppy relax very quickly with the Vet which is a good thing. Also this brand out hour service is outsourced to another vet in nearby town who has very bad reviews which makes me anxious for my pup. I will keep observing this branch service, hopefully no more errors from them, if it happens again, I will no doubt to change.

Bad Communication - Dog Died

Bad Communication - Dog Died This review is about Vets4Pets Woking. I have been with them for 10 years and have always been happy with the care my dogs received. However, since Steve Brawley, head vet and business owner, retired from practising to run the business, it has gone downhill. There was a time I would give it 5* but no longer. This year 2 of my dogs had very unsatisfactory annual health checks with basic problems missed. But my biggest complaint is the treatment of my eldest retriever Mollie. I took her in immediately when she excreted profuse amounts of watery blood. The vet said I should either take her for overnight care but didn’t say why or take her home and try to keep her hydrated and bring her back in the morning. I was given no indication that she had a potentially life threatening illness. I thought she had a minor stomach issue and I needed to keep her hydrated due to the amount of fluid she was losing, so I opted to take her home. I was given a few products to replace the fluid she was losing. No other meds which reinforced that it was nothing serious. After a sleepless night with my dog and with her having four excretions, I prepared to take her back to the vets. She had become so weak that I needed help to get her in the car and then she collapsed at the entrance to PetsAtHome. She had to be stretchered into the consulting room by nurses who told me she was extremely dehydrated and had gone into shock. Worryingly, the notes simply said she was struggling to walk! I left her there for the day for intravenous fluids but by the afternoon I was told that she was not responding and her organs were shutting down and her veins collapsing. I had to agree for her to be euthanised. On looking up her symptoms it appeared that she had AHDS for which the treatment is immediate intravenous fluids. There was no sense of urgency from the vet and no suggestion whatsoever that she had a serious illness. Had I been made aware of the seriousness of her condition, I would never have taken her home but taken her straight to the overnight hospital. Even her euthanasia wasn’t without issue and was very distressing. We left having been told the invoice would be sent on to me. Three months passed with no invoice so I assumed they had waived the fees in view of the issues I had with Mollie’s care. In the meantime, I had taken my other retriever, Susie, for her annual health check. This took precisely 5 minutes and the only thing the vet checked was her heart and lungs. I filled in a review after this unsatisfactory appointment and received a response from the practice owner Steve Brawley in which he stated that he saw nothing wrong with her health check and that vets only checked what was pointed out to them by the owner! That was the last straw so I moved my remaining 2 dogs to another vet. At the ‘meet & greet’ they found that Susie had ear infections, completely missed by Vets4Pets as her ears hadn’t been checked. On 1st July a week after I had changed vets, I received the invoice for Mollie’s care, some 3 months after her last appointment. Coincidence? His justification for the delay in sending the invoice was out of consideration for me! Three weeks, maybe, but three months! There followed an exchange of emails between me and Steve Brawley, practice owner, in which he 100% supported the vet I saw with Mollie. He claimed I had decided against taking Mollie to the overnight vet due to costs and also claimed I’d been told that there was provision for Mollie to be seen at any time overnight both untrue. Had I been told the latter, I would have realised that this was serious and would have taken her for overnight care. I had previously had a good relationship with Steve and he knew that I never put costs before my dogs’ health. As well as losing Mollie, due to not being told the facts and being able to make an informed decision, I was accused of not being honest about what was said and he claimed I was told things that I know I wasn’t. It was quite clear he was supporting his vets irrespective of the truth. At the end of the day, I lost Mollie because the vet didn’t convey the seriousness of Mollie’s condition to me nor give me correct advice. What really upset and annoyed me was that he was questioning my honesty and saying I put the costs of treatment before my dogs, which he knew to be untrue. The inference being that I was responsible for Mollie’s death! Incidentally it is not locally owned as stated on the website, as Steve Brawley, the practice owner, lives on the south coast and has done for years! 27/8/26 The owner has replied to a review I put on Google in which he says again that my dog's death was due to me as I refused treatment due to cost! Completely untrue. There were no witnesses to my conversations with the vet so it is my word against the owner.

Service provision

The vets are fine with some much better than others but what is shocking now is the price of their medication. Tablets elsewhere were £500 cheaper and the latest medication just for some eye drops and corneal repair was £70+ more than elsewhere. Getting a prescription from Vets4Pets in future which is much cheaper and then order from other pharmacies which sell exactly the same items much, much cheaper. It feels like we are becoming more and more ripped off with the pricing of their medication.

Ridiculous request when trying to see a vet urgently

Dog has a limp, so call Vets 4 Pets to see if | can get him in to see someone urgently. Not registered there and not registered anywhere with him at another vets. They asked if I have used a vets before in Bridgwater where I live, and I told them that we used to use another vet for our cats, which have all passed on now, and we've not used any vet for quite some time. I am then told I have to take my dog to vets we used for our cats. I asked why? They said it's because I have used them before. I told them this dog is not registered at any vets. They insisted I need to take him there, and they won't see him. Seriously, what the heck is all this about? Total disgrace. Now my dog has to limp around for 2 more days until I can find another vet after the bank holiday, when initially the receptionist said they might be able to see him the day I called before making this nonsensicle request that I take him back to a vet I have not used in ages, and the dog has never been to.
