Returned the car 40 minutes late — my fault, I accept that. VIMA then charged a full rental day (€149) when their own clause D.10 says €80 per hour. The charge hit at 10:58, before the car was even back and before they could know how late I was. No invoice. Three emails and several calls ignored. Their own staff member said she didn't know why I'd been charged. Photograph everything and read clause D.10 before booking. I will fight until the very end.

Do not be fooled by the fake Google reviews here, this company is absolutely dreadful and should be avoided at all costs. If you go on they have a 3.4 rating and the scale and consistency of the issues and scams that customers have experienced are laid bare. They were happy to take my money (c. €500) with a flight arriving at 8.55pm on Friday night - all the flight details were provided at the time of booking. After making the booking, I received an email highlighting that if I did not pick the car up by 9.30pm (which is quite possible and totally outside of my control…delayed flight, queue at passport control, etc), I would be treated as a no show, my booking would be cancelled and I would not be titled to a refund. Seeing a potential issue, I both emailed and called the company three days prior to my arrival to upgrade my package from “standard” to “premium”. The additional cost would have been something in the region of c.€60. I was informed that as I’d chosen the “standard package”, the booking was absolutely set in stone, with no option to amend or upgrade and if I didn’t make it to the rental desk by 9.30pm, I would lose both my rental and my money. When I asked what they suggest I do to resolve the issue, the guy (Pedro) genuinely suggested that I change my flight in order to get there earlier. When I asked if I could collect the car the following day (despite having already paid for it), they said absolutely not. With nowhere to turn, I referred to section E. 6 in their own terms and conditions which expressly states that customers have the option of upgrading from the standard package to the premium package prior to delivery. Faced with their own T’s and C’s, they then came back with “an exceptional resolution”… that I should pay €199 extra, but would remain on the standard package - I.e. they were proposing to charge me €199 to effectively hang on for 10 minutes, in the event I wasn’t able to make it to the rental desk for 9.30pm. It seems beyond comprehension, how a simple upgrade from one package to another is absolutely impossible, but an addition of a random “off menu” €199 fee that they’ve made up on the spot IS feasible. When I asked what I was actually receiving for the additional €199 fee, Pedro said that he wasn’t willing to discuss it any further. They can shove the additional fee up their ars*s. This company is a total scam artist. They have quite clearly paid for lots of fake reviews in order to cover up their poor service (just look at the numbers of reviews versus the other rental companies on the island). If you go to you will get a real sense of what this company is like. There are plenty of good rental companies in Majorca, unfortunately this is not one of them and should be avoided at all costs.

This company is MAKING EXTRA MONEY on you after you deliveres the car back. This company is making extra when you return your car. DO NOT USE THEM. This is a company making money. I picked up the car and the guy was very friendly. He recommended to in the car rather 2 hours earlier than the informed on booking to ensure enough time in security. He would make a note. But I guess he did not. On my return I receive a message that they will charge me 80 EUR returning the car to 1,5 hour to early (in a parking lot costing 2 EUR per hour defined by the company) This is the way they make money and suddenly then become more expensive that the better companies having an office. I did compain about this, but I am sure this will not matter. If they react on the complaint in a positive way, i will ofcourse delete this rating. Standing on their ground, I will have Mastercard chase them.

We were overcharged by a deposit of 600 euros while picking up the car yesterday at 10:00 a.m. We decided on this company because of the rave online reviews, and we made sure to get their premium insurance package for a total of 1140 euros to avoid any issues. We made the reservation months in advance. VIMA was not supposed to charge any deposit of any kind during pickup, let alone a 50% deposit for using their online payment link during pickup. When we arrived at the airport pickup area, we were unable to make the payment for the longest time. The machine kept requesting a PIN number for our credit card, which is strange because we had been using the same credit card in Palma for approximately 6 weeks prior to renting this vehicle. The VIMA lady kept insisting that we had to enter our credit card PIN number into her machine as if we were using a debit card. We have been traveling through Spain for years and we never had to use a PIN number for any purchase because our credit card does not have a PIN number other than for cash advances. We called our bank on the spot in front of the VIMA lady and our bank confirmed that the issue was with the payment mechanism of VIMA and that our bank could not see any attempted charges in our system. The VIMA lady then called her main office where the manager said that he would resolve the issue by sending us an online payment link to make the 1140 euro payment. The problem is that the manager also requested a 600 euro deposit without any paperwork in order to allow us to make the 1140 euro payment using an online link. The only reason given for charging the 600 euro deposit was our making the 1140 payment using an online link instead of their physical machine. The whole experience felt very scammy. We did not have any choice but to pay the 600 euro deposit since we were there in the high season and needed a car for 12 days. Avoid this company unless you want a massive headache when picking up the car. We have yet to see how drop off goes. Separate from the payment issue, the car was also dented by previous drivers in two places on the side, which our paperwork memorialized during pickup. I do not anticipate any issues on this point during drop off since our paperwork reflects the previous damage and we have premium insurance through VIMA, but I do not understand online reviews praising their fleet for utilizing new and pristine cars. Update: I checked with my bank this morning and obviously both the 1140 payment and the 600 deposit went through. At this point, VIMA should be returning the 600 euro deposit since the deposit was charged solely to guarantee the 1140 euro payment. VIMA responded to my complaint by stating that they have no control over the situation and that the issue is with their bank, which requires a PIN number for credit card payments as a security feature. The explanation by VIMA does not address why the VIMA manager took advantage of the situation and charged my credit card a separate 600 euro deposit at the last minute. The explanation by VIMA also does not address why VIMA is continuing to keep the 600 euro deposit even after my 1140 euro car payment posted and VIMA received the entirety of the 1140 euro car rental payment. Obviously, I initiated a dispute with my bank.

The service was not bad at first, and the process of picking up the car was quick. However, the car was dirty inside, and it was also due for an oil change and routine maintenance when I received it. This raises serious concerns about how well the vehicles are maintained. The biggest problem, however, was returning the car. Since my flight was at 9:50 a.m., I was asked to pay €29 to return the car before 8:00 a.m., according to their rules. I was clearly told that if I returned the car at 8:00 a.m. or slightly before, the €29 would be refunded. I returned to the airport at around 8:10 a.m., handed the keys to their representative, and I am still waiting for my refund. I have sent several emails and followed up multiple times, but despite all my efforts, I have never received the €29 back.. Be very careful before renting from this company. If they cannot properly handle a simple €29 refund, imagine what the service could be like if you have a serious problem during your rental. There are plenty of other car rental companies with much better customer service. Don’t risk your money or ruin your vacation over a few euros. I definitely would not rent from them again.
