A Bogus Excuse to Avoid Their Guarantee
Email reference: [D14V03-7MKYR] Ticket #786066 I shopped through VoucherCodes at a VIP retailer of theirs only to find that a voucher code advertised on their website did not work. I made my purchase anyway, applying to my order instead a different voucher code that actually worked which I found from another coupon website. I submitted a Code Guarantee request in view of the fact that VoucherCodes's code did not work as advertised. 8 days later, I finally received an email response to my request to tell me that my request had been unsuccessful because I was wrong to apply a working code sourced from elsewhere. That is nothing more than a bogus excuse to avoid honouring their guarantee. Truly shameful behaviour from VoucherCodes. The £25 gift card I ought to have been entitled to was instead reduced to an offer of a paltry £5. There was no argument over the fact that the VoucherCodes code didn't work. I provided indisputable evidence of it too. So, in the context of a faulty VoucherCodes code, what material relevance does the customer’s subsequent decision on how to proceed with the purchase have to the issue at hand? How does the subsequent use of an externally sourced working code in any way alter or impact the objective fact that the VoucherCodes code did not work? VoucherCodes' email then went on to invite me to review their webpage dedicated to the the Code Guarantee Terms and highlighted for me a paragraph which they made out was supposedly taken from said Terms. Upon reviewing the Code Guarantee Terms for myself, however, I discovered that the paragraph they were attempting to rely upon to justify declining my request did not even exist within the Code Guarantee Terms. When I pointed this out and challenged VoucherCodes on the unfairness of refusing a valid claim on the basis of a term that does not even appear in the published Code Guarantee Terms, they responded a further 9 days later, ultimately informing me that they would not be changing their decision. Instead, they sought to justify their position by relying on the following term: “VoucherCodes reserves the right to make any changes to the Website or to discontinue any aspect or feature of the Website without notice to Users.” So, they've effectively said that they can simply disregard their own guarantee whenever they choose to do so, without justification. VoucherCodes relies on dishonest business practices. Their conduct is unfair and they utterly lack integrity.
