I loved my stay in Azurlingua school!!!
I loved my stay in Azurlingua school. The staff is great and the city is good. My host was very nice! I really recommend this school to learn french.

Avoid the French camp in Leysin
My son attended the French camp in Leysin, Switzerland. He learned zero French in two weeks. I noticed from monitoring his phone that the students were allowed to use Google Translate in classes, which is absolutely pointless. They spent more time memorising the other students names and where they were from than learning any actual French. The food was very poor, sometimes inedible. Cubes of processed turkey meat over pasta in a cream sauce, for example. He and his friend were sick from eating the chicken. There is only cereal and bread at breakfast before 4 hours of the (useless) French classes. The activities were not fun, except for one really lovely hike and a couple of off-site activities (salt mine, chocolate factory). Aside from awful food and not learning French, when a boy in my son's room left poo on the bathroom floor, my son asked a counsellor what to do... if there would be a cleaning service. The boy spoke no English so they couldn't communicate with him directly. Instead of helping solve the issue, my son and his friend who also was in the room, were ostracised by the counsellors who blamed THEM for doing it (I know both boys well, they ABSOLUTELY did not do it). Instead the boys had to clean it up themselves, and THEN got in trouble for using too much toilet paper to clean up another child's excrement. As punishment, they separated my son from his friend and put them in rooms where no one spoke English and visitors were not allowed. My son spent the evenings sitting in the hallway talking to me on his phone. Honestly, the whole experience was a waste of money and a waste of two weeks of our son's summer before going away to secondary school. It was incredibly stressful on all of us. All the communication came from a lady in Madrid who got her information 3rd hand, and sent upsetting emails threatening to have our child sent home for something he didn't do. I didn't go rescue him and leave the camp after a few days becuase my husband was in another country with my son's passport, and to be honest, it was a good, if deeply unpleasant, life lesson for him on how to deal with adults who are unfair and make poor decisions. This place is an example of how private equity/investment groups buy out and attempt to scale up an experience that isn't easily scaleable. ALL the fixed costs are cut: Food suffers. Teaching suffers. Pastoral care suffers. But the website looks nice and slick, you get a lot of support until they have your £3500 and then surprise, ZERO support after.

Lamentable estancia en familia en Niza
Veo necesario manifestar mi total desacuerdo con la interpretación que hacen de lo sucedido durante la estancia en familia de mi hija Laura en Niza del 28 junio al 12 julio. El problema no fue simplemente un “error durante la primera semana” que posteriormente mejoraron durante 4 días. La realidad es que, durante la mayor parte de los 14 días de estancia, las condiciones de alojamiento estuvieron muy lejos de lo que yo contraté y de lo que razonablemente se espera de una estancia en familia. En primer lugar, el hecho de que la vivienda tenga 300 m² y pueda alojar hasta 10 estudiantes no significa que esas condiciones sean adecuadas para una estancia en familia. Lo que se ha organizado en esa vivienda se asemeja mucho más a una pensión o residencia informal de estudiantes que a una experiencia de convivencia familiar. De esos aproximadamente 300 m², la mayor parte de la vivienda está destinada al uso privado de la familia, mientras que los estudiantes se concentran en una parte muy reducida del inmueble. Por tanto, no considero que el número de estudiantes sea un detalle irrelevante, como indican en su respuesta. Es precisamente una cuestión fundamental para valorar la naturaleza y la calidad del alojamiento ofrecido. La solución fue parcial de la estancia de 14 días, sólo 4 estuvo en una habitación individual, los otros 11 días en habitación triple y baño para 6, sólo 2 días de los 14 tuvieron otro baño. El cambio a una habitación individual durante cuatro días no fue una mejora que nos ofrecen, sino lo que yo había contratado. En cuanto al uso de zonas comunes solo se les permitió un día sentarse en la mesa del jardín y en ningún momento el uso de la piscina, ya que el primer día preguntó si se podía usar y le contestaron que no. Sobre el gimnasio entendemos que estaba reservado para el uso de la familia aunque en su mensaje pone que sólo se les permitió el uso del gimnasio a los hombres, respuesta muy extraña en el siglo XXI. Mi conclusión es que la anfitriona quiere tener un buen negocio en verano con muchos beneficios por estudiante, cuantos más mejor y Alpadia le da crédito.

Sul vostro sito era indicato che la host family a Berlino si sarebbe trovata a meno di 30 minuti dalla scuola. Invece, per mia figlia avete scelto una famiglia che dista circa 45 minuti. Se ne fossimo stati informati in anticipo, avremmo optato per il residence. Per questo motivo ci sentiamo sinceramente ingannati. Inoltre, ci avete fornito contatti errati della host family. Nonostante vi avessimo segnalato l'errore e comunicato con precisione l'orario di arrivo di nostra figlia, nessuno ha provveduto a informare la famiglia ospitante. Ieri mia figlia è arrivata a Berlino e, non trovando nessuno ad accoglierla, ha dovuto contattare la scuola. Solo dopo quasi un'ora è riuscita a entrare in casa. Al suo arrivo, però, la famiglia non era presente, lasciandola completamente sola. Per cena ha dovuto arrangiarsi con un semplice panino. Riteniamo che quanto accaduto sia estremamente grave e del tutto inaccettabile, soprattutto considerando che si tratta di una ragazza arrivata da sola in un Paese straniero. Ci aspettavamo un'organizzazione ben diversa e un'assistenza adeguata, che purtroppo è completamente mancata. Siamo profondamente delusi dal servizio ricevuto.
