Poor Experience with Boatsetter
The booking process seemed ok until the day of picking up the boat. The instructions given were very poor. The location given was an area with hundreds of boats and no specific details for how to find our boat or the owner/agent. It said to message the owner thru the boatsetter app if problems......but he did not reply until about 30 minutes later. Once we finally found the owner, he was extremely unhelpful and said almost nothing. The boat was not the one (different color and different model) that we agreed to rent and not the one that was pictured in the email sent to help us find it. The boat was very dirty, had a number of problems: speedometer did not work, tachometer did not work, gas gauge was stuck at full and did not move, the seat next to the drivers seat was broken, throttle linkage was sloppy and inconsistent, engine did not idle consistently, and a number of more minor issues. Recommendation: Never rent from Boatsetter (they do not vet the owners or the boats)....but if find yourself in a position where its the only option, take photos and video of everything. Further: Dealing with Boatsetter customer service is a joke.

No boat on July 3
Showed up with 6 friends, floats and food for July 3 and no boat. The guy said he was no longer on Boatsetter. I had been charged, charged a $500 deposit and received confirmation messages. I was so angry and embarrassed. Customer Service said this happens but it sounds like they don’t have any protection or recourse when it does.

Lake Tahoe is a must see by boat!
Lake Tahoe is a must see, and the best way to do that is on the water! Dylan was a fantastic captain of the double decker tiki party boat, very knowledgeable about the lake and surrounding areas, great sense of humor, always keeping safety a top priority. We had ages 6 months to 65 years on the boat and Dylan handled the group of 11 with ease! Grilled lunch , swam, SUP, slide and jumping off the top -great fun. Highly recommended! Great day had by all.

Subject: URGENT: FRAUD, EXTORTION, & OWNER NO-SHOW - Booking ID: zcxqppm To Boatsetter Legal & Support Teams: I am submitting a formal report of a coordinated extortion scheme, fraudulent listing, and complete owner no-show regarding Booking ID: zcxqppm for the "Affordable Luxury Formula Yacht | Grill & Cabin". I demand an immediate refund of the $476.13 booking charge and the release of the $500 security deposit hold. Prior to the rental period, the host ("Kenny") and an individual claiming to be "Captain Mark" engaged in targeted off-platform extortion. Using hidden Apple iMessage emails to conceal their actual phone numbers, they threatened to cancel the reservation at the last minute unless I transferred $115 in unlisted "refundable fees" via Zelle to unassociated third parties. Upon arriving at the instructed location (Fort Pierce Marina, Dock B, Slip 27), the slip was empty. The local Indian River Lagoon office confirmed no such vessel was assigned there. Furthermore, the officially listed captain (772-577-3377) texted me 24 hours after the scheduled charter to deny his involvement, despite the booking remaining active on your platform. This is a severe violation of your Extenuating Circumstances (Owner No-Show/Fraud) policy. I have initiated fraud reports with Bank of America, the USCG, and state authorities. I expect written confirmation of my full refund within 48 hours, as well as the permanent removal of these scammers from your platform. Sincerely, Vikas Gupta
