I had an eye exam and had to get a new pair of glasses. Eye exam very good and thorough. Worley was the sales person who assisted me with my glasses. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable about what frames suited me. It was overall an excellent visit.

Very disappointing experience with unclear pricing
review Very disappointing experience with unclear pricing I visited David Clulow to choose frames and subsequently booked an eye test. Before attending, I called the store specifically to understand the costs and was told that basic single-vision lenses started at £99.95 and that the 30% offer applied to both frames and prescription lenses with the 24-month payment option. The eye test itself was absolutely fine. Unfortunately, the experience afterwards was very disappointing. Despite having a simple prescription and repeatedly asking for the most basic suitable lenses, I was eventually given a total approaching £900 for two pairs, with the prescription lenses costing around £300–£400 per pair. I also found the pricing very difficult to follow. A pair of sunglasses displayed at one price was subsequently quoted at a different price, and when I asked why, I wasn’t given a clear explanation. Most surprisingly, I wasn’t provided with a proper itemised quotation. The various prices and discounts were manually calculated on a small Post-it note. For a purchase approaching £900, I would expect to see a clear breakdown of the frames, lenses, optional extras, discounts and final cost. I chose not to proceed with the purchase. My issue isn’t simply that David Clulow is expensive; customers can decide whether premium pricing represents value for them. My concern was the lack of transparency and clarity around how the final price was calculated. I have contacted David Clulow directly to give them the opportunity to investigate and respond.

THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SERVICE
I have been going to David Clulow for many years but has never done a review before. My recent trip 2nd & 10th August 2026 to the Bromley branch has prompted me to do one this time around because my optometrist, Prab deserves to be publicly recognised for his exceptionally positive and thorough work. He exhibited professionalism and was very thorough and diligent throughout the examination process. I left feeling satisfied with the service you provided me. THANK YOU, Prab!
