I find duolinguo ver biased with nearly all genders as same sex. It becomes confusing and baffling. The majority is same sex and that's just not true to life. It's confusing .

Really Grateful for the Weird Free Things of the Modern Age

Can't believe this learning resource is free it's really quite good. Sure, you might need to consume more media than the free version of DuoLingo to become conversant on complex topics, but it's really helping me learn my new language. I might use it to refresh another. I have been using the app for years and to be honest it's been interesting watching it change and improve. It has definitely gotten better. I do miss the daft uniforms for the owl that I could buy. I was disappointed when they stripped Christmas themes from the app as it's useful in Christian countries to learn those greetings. I am confident I can guess why why they did it, but in any case it was the wrong decision.

Ai Slop company

2 options for english test, either 2 days results, or u get it in the same day for extra money, which changes to results in 12 hours after you purchase (this is the first scam) then they hit you with a false claim that you cheated!!! u try to contact them and they just send robots never an actual human, after thorough back and forth conversation they say they can't provide any footage evidence that you cheated!!!!!! the absurdity of this system is nonesense! I have read that they use Ai alot but didn't expect it to be in this way, you are taking an accredited test and they review it with Ai only, THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!! not to mention that the test's topic were fully Ai SLOPS AND BRAINROT. Screw this company, 0 institutes should accept their certificates and lead it to become a useless Ai company that no one pays for. as long as companies accept them it will continue to be the same.

UPDATE: Forced to pay twice due to rigid policy – Denied refund despite ADHD accessibility needs and proof of good faith

UPDATE: Forced to pay twice due to rigid policy – Denied refund despite ADHD accessibility needs and proof of good faithUpdate 31/08/2026: I submitted a formal accommodation request, providing medical proof of my ADHD diagnosis, my official certification of translator status (OTTIAQ), and my IELTS results showing an overall band score of 8.5. Duolingo offered a courtesy retake attempt; however, because I had already purchased a second test credit out of necessity on August 27th, I currently have two credits and require a refund for that second purchase. Furthermore, Duolingo Support Supervisor Maryna has officially denied my accommodation request to use headphones for the upcoming test, meaning I will have to complete my retake without them. Furthermore, I am deeply disappointed that my original test was invalidated in the first place. I explained clearly from the very beginning that the earphones were a necessary, good-faith accommodation for my ADHD and my computer's broken speakers. I even openly photographed them during the setup. Given my professional credentials as an OTTIAQ-certified translator and my documented IELTS score of 8.5, there was absolutely no academic dishonesty. I am still holding onto hope that Duolingo will do the right thing, review my actual test performance, and validate my original test. ----------------------------------------------------------- I am writing this review in the hope that a senior manager at Duolingo will review my case, as standard support has repeatedly refused to show any flexibility or empathy. My case number is 17701262. My original Duolingo English Test was invalidated, and my refund request was denied, because I used wired earphones during the exam. I have ADHD and struggle heavily with focus and filtering out background noise. Furthermore, I use a 10-year-old, second-hand laptop with severely degraded internal speakers. For me, earphones were a physical and neurodivergent accessibility necessity, not an attempt to bypass rules. I acted in complete good faith throughout this process: 1. Transparency: I openly showed my earphones in the setup photos before the test began. If I had any intent to cheat, I would not have voluntarily photographed them. 2. Semantic Misunderstanding: The rules I read highlighted "earbuds" (which I interpreted as wireless, in-ear devices like AirPods). As a professional translator, I did not realize this strictly applied to standard wired earphones. 3. No Motive to Cheat: I am a certified professional translator and scored an 8.5 on the IELTS. I provided Duolingo support with both my IELTS certificate and my professional credentials to prove my language proficiency. Because I have an urgent deadline and need this test score immediately, I had no choice but to pay out of pocket for a second test. Charging a neurodivergent customer twice under these circumstances is completely unfair. I am asking for an escalation manager to review my case and issue a refund for my first, invalidated test. Duolingo should not be profiting off of genuine accessibility needs and honest misunderstandings.
