Not a good experience at a so called 5 star hotel but their customer service when you want to complain is even worse. Avoid this hotel chain

It’s refreshing to stay at a property where you truly never feel the need to leave. With excellent amenities, great food, and wonderful people, everything you need is right there. I especially appreciated the variety of dining options, along with the on-site shops, café, and sundry market. What surprised me most, though, was how genuinely pleasant and eager to help everyone was. Housekeepers greeted us warmly whenever we passed by, and the valet team welcomed us back each time we returned to the property. That level of hospitality really stood out. A special shoutout to a few team members who made our stay even more memorable: Jen and Mike at the front desk patiently answered all our questions and took great care of our needs. Ben at Pete’s was incredibly warm and attentive — he made us feel like we were hanging out at a favorite neighborhood bar. Bu at Watertable quickly remembered our preferences after we dined there two nights in a row, which was such a thoughtful touch. And M and K at the spa (I wish I could remember their full names!) were so accommodating, even though we arrived just an hour before closing. My friends and I can’t wait to come back. This place is truly a gem in Huntington Beach. Thank you for the memories!

I recently stayed at Hyatt Vacation Club at Sirena del Mar from July 18–25, 2026, and unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing Hyatt stays I have experienced. The biggest issue was roof construction that took place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday directly above or very near our penthouse. The noise made it impossible to relax or take my normal afternoon nap. I have a heart condition and require a daily rest period for medical reasons. I explained this to the front desk, but each day I was told the construction would either be minimal or would be finished that day. Neither statement proved to be accurate. On Thursday, a manager offered to move us to another room but said he first needed to contact the construction crew because the work should already have been finished. I agreed to wait in my room for an update. He never called or followed up. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t stop there. On Thursday morning, we were preparing breakfast in our villa for a group of ten people when we discovered the oven did not work. Although we were told someone would come “right up,” it took more than 45 minutes for anyone to arrive and approximately two hours before the oven was repaired. Our breakfast was significantly delayed. That same evening, we ordered room service around 5:30 p.m. and were told it would take about 30 minutes. More than two hours later, after checking on the order, we learned the food had been delivered to the wrong room. We finally received our dinner after 7:30 p.m. To the resort’s credit, the room service charges were removed from our folio before we left the property. I appreciated that adjustment, but it did not address the broader issues we experienced during our stay. The property itself has beautiful ocean views, spacious villas, and the potential to be an outstanding resort. Unfortunately, our vacation was overshadowed by three days of construction noise, poor communication, slow maintenance response, room service delays, and a lack of follow-through from management. What disappointed me most was not simply that problems occurred—those can happen anywhere—but how they were handled. Communication was inconsistent, expectations about the construction repeatedly proved inaccurate, promises to follow up were not kept, and the primary issue was never resolved while we were there. I chose Hyatt because I expected a higher standard of service. Guests should be informed in advance when significant construction may affect their stay, particularly when that work is taking place directly above or near their accommodations. When problems do arise, I also expect management to communicate accurately and follow through on what they promise. Sirena del Mar is a beautiful property, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I sincerely hope the resort improves its communication about planned construction and its response when guest concerns arise.

Booked a hotel but did not get a confirmation so tried to book again but the hotel did not have the dates I wanted so had to book a different hotel in the same area. Called the helpline number to clarify what was booked and was told the first booking had not gone through, even now 8 weeks later that booking is not showing in my Hyatt account. On return from the trip I noticed a charge on my credit card for a no show for the original hotel. After a number of weeks of trying to get this sorted I am told I was sent a confirmation email and I did not cancel the booking so no refund. Goes to say after being a customer a while and using hotels 3 times in the last year I will not be booking again. Will speak to the credit card company to see if they are able to do anything.

I went to book the Andaz Hotel in London and note they have small print showing a 5% discretionary service charge is added to the bill, which is the Ryanair style of sneaky pricing. Most people will be too embarrassed to challenge this at on paying their bill, but might not have booked when looking at price comparison sites. Consumers need to be aware and vote with their feet or other hotels will do the same. On challenging this with Hyatt, they said it is the same as a restaurant. No! A restaurant provides 1-2 hours of service whereas check-in is 2-3 minutes at best with the hotel room cost twice the price of a meal.
