Scam trial and terrible customer supoprt

I signed up for a trial with Kaiber / Superstudio. The trial later renewed into a paid subscription even though I barely used it during the trial. I got no confirmation of a subscription or anything. Once I noticed the charge, I cancelled immediately and contacted support to request a refund because I had not used the service at all during the renewed billing period. The refund was refused. What made the experience worse was the tone of support, which felt dismissive rather than helpful. Instead of reasonably addressing the fact that the renewed service had not been used, support kept repeating policy and responded in the most unprofessional and dismissive way that made the situation worse. My issue is not that trials can convert to paid. My issue is the refusal to refund an unused renewal and the poor support handling that followed.

STAY Away from Kaiber.ai

Signed up for the $5 trial. Attempted to cancel within the trial period. Was told by Phil that no cancellation attempt was made on their end and was refused a refund. When I raised a dispute, rather than resolving it professionally, Phil threatened to counter-claim. Over $5. I then asked for a VAT invoice and their registered business details — still waiting. For context, I barely used the platform. After reading other reviews, it seems I'm far from the only person who has had this exact experience with the same individual. If a company is willing to fight this hard to keep $5 from a customer who clearly doesn't want the service, that tells you everything you need to know about how they treat their users. Proceed with caution.

Regarding cancellation - our records show that no cancellation was made on your account during the trial period. The trial includes clear instructions on how to cancel, and we have no record of an attempt being made. We're always happy to assist with cancellations when contacted, but we can only action what comes through to us. Regarding VAT - as was explained in our correspondence, VAT on our service operates under the reverse charge mechanism. This means VAT is not collected by us at the point of payment. This was communicated to you at the time you raised it. Regarding our contact and business details - these were also provided to you during our previous exchange, including where to find them. The renewal is $29 as the $5 is the trial itself. We take every customer interaction seriously and always aim to resolve things fairly. If there's anything else we can help with, you're welcome to reach out to our support team which was also provided to you as email contact.

I signed up for the $5 trial to test the service, not with the intention of committing to a full subscription. Yes, technically I forgot to cancel before the trial ended. However, during that time I was at the hospital for a week dealing with a serious mental health crisis involving my brother. When real-life emergencies happen, managing online subscriptions is simply not a priority. In my opinion, a paid trial should not automatically roll into a higher subscription without stronger separation between trial access and full membership intent. Situations like mine show how easily people can be charged when they are dealing with urgent personal matters. I asked for as refund over email to Phill from the team and requested a refund as a goodwill gesture, but the response did not take the circumstances into consideration. I’m disappointed this couldn’t be resolved directly. I’ll now need to speak with my bank about the charge. as where i an location i have to pay X2 to what the cost is $29 = $48 in my country alot of money I hope the company improves how trial transitions are handled, especially for customers going through unexpected life situations.

However, I need to clarify that at no point during our email correspondence was any information about your hospital stay, your brother's mental health crisis, or any personal circumstances communicated to the team. Our conversation was strictly about the subscription charge and your refund request - there was no mention of being at the hospital, family emergencies, or any extenuating circumstances that would have allowed us to take these factors into consideration. We absolutely do take mitigating circumstances into account when reviewing refund requests, but we can only work with the information that's actually been shared with us. The decision was made based solely on what was communicated at the time, which did not include any of the personal details mentioned in this review. Regarding the trial process, we follow standard industry practice with trial information displayed twice once at sign up and again at checkout for the 5 day trial.
