Lavacarrental - man sollte lokale Anbieter unterstützen!
This year, from July 5 to 30, we traveled around Iceland in a car rented from Lavacarrental. We drove the entire Ring Road, with detours into the highlands via F-roads. We spent three nights in the north near Akureyri, then eleven days in the east in Egilsstaðir, and finally ten days in the south in Eyrarbakki. Since this was already our fifth vacation in Iceland and we’d had very good experiences with Lavacarrental the last three times, choosing this provider was a no-brainer! We needed a four-wheel-drive automatic hybrid car. We were given a Suzuki Vitara automatic hybrid with four-wheel drive that had only 16,500 km on it. Since I’d booked everything online—including the new special fee (a flat rate of 10 € per day with Lavacar)—the keys were picked up from a self-service kiosk. So no matter when you arrive in Keflavík, a shuttle takes you to the pickup location. The car never let us down; we made it up and down every bumpy gravel road without any problems. I managed to lower the average fuel consumption from 6.2 to 6.1 liters per 100 km, even though I was usually driving at a brisk pace (which is both possible and allowed in Iceland!).—At the end of our vacation, I gave the car a rough cleaning inside and out (in Eyrarbakki, there’s a free spot behind the gas station). Returning the car after 3,500 km went smoothly again: this time, we opted for in-person drop-off. While we enjoyed a cup of coffee, the car was thoroughly inspected: everything was fine! If we ever come back to Iceland in two years, we’ll choose Lavacarrental again! Without a doubt!
