Awesome trip on the Tour du Mont…
We just completed the Tour du Mont Blanc which we did self guided ten day tour with Macs Adventure. The organisation was brilliant and the app navigation awesome. It gave us lots of options of alternative routes if we’d wanted them. Some of the accommodation was quite simple but we specifically requested not to be taken off the route so in some places the options are limited for Mac’s. Our highlight was Refugio Bonatti which it seemed was missed by those on the highlight 6 day tour. We are both retired and while very fit, it was tough but I’d still do the complete Tour

Our 2nd Mac trip. Great.
This is the second trip that Mac Adventure have organised for us. The first one was the French Way Camino de Santiago which was so well done that we came back to them for our next adventure- the Portuguese Camino. We were very pleased that we did. The pre booking help and information was clear concise and useful. The post booking assistance and helpful information was much appreciated. Their app was a great source of info as well. The high standard that they set was maintained on the trip. Everything ‘Worked’. We had a great experience and will be back for another Mac organised Adventure.

Don't touch with a bargepole
9 years ago we did a walking tour of the Isle of Wight and the accommodation was so mixed we swore we'd never use the company again. When we booked our current trip on the Pembrokeshire coast, we failed to check who we'd gone to the Isle of Wight with, and booked the same one - Macs. It's been another very poor experience. The hotel on the first night was excellent but we're currently holed up in the sort of room you might find in a bail hostel - tiny, very grubby with a shower room that's barely a metre wide. The information about the holiday is skimpy to say the least with the same words repeated for every day. I rang for advice about travel and the man who described himself as the Welsh rep couldn't help because he'd never done the trip. Our host at the first - beautiful - accommodation said Macs had never checked it because they wanted a freebie and the hotel wouldn't offer it to them. This was not a cheap holiday and not worth the money. Our daughter booked a walking holiday in Scotland and compared it with a similar holiday with Macs - Macs charged £1,000 more! Macs is now burnt on our memories and we will never use them again.

Badly organised but a great hike. We did the Tour of Mt Blanc in huts and…
We did the Tour of Mt Blanc in huts and it was badly organised. I booked over a year in advance, but even so we were not booked into all the huts/hotels on the route. We were asked to pay more for the alternative accomodation even though it involved getting public transport and walking further off trail, then getting bus etc before starting the next day. Bus timetables were not provided. We were also told that two evening meals for two people that were in the itinerary were being removed. In the end we did not pay more (as they needed to provide the holiday as advertised), and we were refunded £100 towards the cost of 4 extra meals (it was not enough). I see there are no reviews more recent than 10 months ago on their website, and my critical review is not there. We also asked for GPX files and got no response. This is a great walk but I’d go with a different company or even book it all yourself including luggage transfer

The Yorkshire Dales in Comfort with…
The Yorkshire Dales in Comfort with Macs. We booked this trip some months ahead of our start date so we got the dates and hotels we wanted. Top tip is to avoid travelling at the weekend as engineering works caused me a lot of issues on another trip. We started in Settle, walked to Malham and stayed 2 nights there. Then walked to Grassington for a further 2 nights. We liked all of the accommodation but particularly enjoyed the quirky and friendly Beck Hall in Malham. Don't be put off by the vegan menu, the food was delicious. All 4 walks were excellent - between 8 and 10 miles each day but the hills and the stiles meant each walk took us between 5 and 6 hours. Navigation is easy with the Macs app. The highlight is Malham Cove but be warned, the limestone pavement at the top and the 417 steps down is a challenging end to this walk.
