My Experience with Medium
One guy's opinion on here saying only Americans who know nothing write on there is untrue, Many Europeans write on there on diverse topics of social concerns. When I first perused it, I thought it was a hard left social issues only ezine, but over time I found out it was far more with many diverse articles on all kinds of subjects you wouldn't find anywhere else. I loved it and made many friends who were very nice. SOOO why did I give it one star?!?!?!? Here's the rub. The mods are hard leftists. I had a discussion with an author who was discussing transgender issue. I disagreed with him in a cordial way, emphasizing I was not in any way intending to be insulting. His response was curt and insulting as I find many fanatics are. I replied miffed and he reported me for being insulting. I was banned because the mods said on Medium transgenders are a protected group and cannot be questioned about. Soooo on that subject and probably other leftist issues discussions are controlled and shut down. When I said it smacked of the government controlling speech as they did under COVID, I was banned for questioning their policy, a typical leftist cancel culture action. Sooo never question any leftist pet issues on there! Just keep your mouth shut!!!

Seems great when you start using it and reading stories but eventually you wake up and discover that it is just plain simply worthless. It is mainly articles written by Americans without any real or useful knowledge.

Medium Censors Human Rights Abuses to Protect German State Authorities: Medium promotes itself as a platform for freedom of speech and a voice for everyone, yet it takes directives from German authorities to protect their racist police force. They censored a documented public interest report detailing horrific institutional abuse in Mannheim, where I was subjected to unlawful detention, physical assault, forced public nudity, sexual harassment in a cell and the total denial of legal counsel. All domestic legal channels were exhaustively pursued over a one-month period and every single institutional avenue remained completely silent. Medium was repeatedly contacted with full evidence of these human rights violations and proof that domestic remedies were exhausted, demanding to know on what legal grounds they removed the post and naturally, there is zero response because their own internal policies and gatekeepers are shielding state racism. We have EML and IP logs, in addition to timestamped screenshots and video recordings to prove anything we say here. Formal complaints, including actions with the FTC and the necessary legal bodies across United States jurisdiction, have already been filed. Watch how that exact post gets restored by the end of this month, while everyone responsible is fully exposed to the world and our full financial compensation is recovered.

Beware, this site is not secure, my email has been breached,
I have been a subscriber for a few months, I am now very concerned now because my email has been breached and anf found on the darkweb, when I checked it on a trusted website that looks for breaches it came up with one of the writers on the medium platform having been the victim of pay or leak, cyber crime, I dont know how they had my email, I havent even read their articles, but it must have been through Medium as I have no other connection with them.

Predatory writing and marketing
Medium.com markets itself as a home for burgeoning writers, it's a type of "writer's guild" for the internet age. Their business model consists of nudging people into buying monthly or annual memberships, and they pay writers using the website with these fees. As someone who has read and written books, this was appealing to me, because their subscriptions aren't terribly expensive. However, it's just a trap. I've bought the annual membership twice now, and each time I've had to walk away in dissapointment. The second time i signed up, i was happy that there was a clear short story publication section. However, the guidelines for making submissions was extremely vague. The article explaining the submission process just said "ask an editor for permission to make submissions". So i did that. Several days later, one of the editors got back to me and informed me that asking permission wasn't even part of the process at all, that you already need to have a significant amount of popularity on the website as a write, that you need to publish your work without any compensation multiple times before they'll consider you making a submission. This "editor" acted baffled when i lost interest in this Catch-22. If you're just singing up to read articles, don't hold your breath: i've noticed over the years that the most popular stuff that gets pushed on there is normally very bad. I just got done having a "software engineer" talk to me in a bizarre and condescending manner just because my opinions didn't perfectly align with the ones they expressed in the article. These people are really degrading my ability to be patient and understanding towards other people, and sadly, modern internet design itself is to blame. Why would I want to be a writer if i have to write inflammatory, identity politics crap in order to be popular? Lying to people is really easy, writing decent essays and stories is not. Don't buy into medium's popular complaint that it's A.I. ruining writing for people now adays, they were pushing bad articles before that technology got really popular.
