Their communication to start with was excellent, in 2019 I paid a deposit for a Kilimanjaro climb with Top Climbers Expedition. I was in contact with Neha and Casi. Due to covid I had to postpone my trip and I'm planning to do the trek this year. After sending 2 e-mails with my booking reference they finally contacted me that I can proceed with the trip. Afterwards there was some communication back and forth (with Mojhi and Top Climbers Expediotn) about the different start dates in August/September. I know found 2-3 friends who will probably join, but when asking new prices if my group gets bigger, they did not respond anymore ... . The 24th of March I received confirmation that Top Climbers will send prices (with Mojhi in copy). The 30th of March I sent a reminder, but still no pricing received. I then went to Mojhi's website for a new inquiry for 3-4 people, but still no answer. So yeah .. even if they stil answer, my trust is not that big anymore and I paid a 300usd deposit ...

Refused refund and broke cancellation fee agreement

Their communication to start with was excellent, in 2019 I paid 30% deposit for a safari in Botswana. Then Covid 19 hit and all the Botswana borders were closed for the duration of what should have been our holiday. After several lengthy telephone calls Mojhi repeatedly refused to cancel the trip saying it was my choice not to go!!! And the best THEY could do was offer me a voucher. I knew the cancellation policy was 10%, but they kept the 30% I had already paid, saying they had already used it so could offer no cash refund at all, so could only offer a voucher. I have email confirmation of this. They have given me a voucher....but in the current situation this is totally worthless. Thankfully my own bank have resolved this refunding the full amount on my card in February 2021.

Hello Sandra, We are sorry for your review but unfotunately your review does not represent facts. In fact we are very sorry to note that it has blatant lies. I request everyone reading the review to read our full response to understand our position on this issue. We have received several 100s of cancellation requests during covid19 and in all cases without exception we either offered refund as per cancellation policy or full credit voucher where customers accepted voucher for future travel. In several cases, we offered more favorable refund policy than what is mentioned in voucher. In this case however, after checking cancellation policy, client didn't want to lose the 10% deposit and asked for credit voucher and after taking credit voucher, without any further communication(Neither by mail not by call) from her side, client raised chargeback request for full deposit paid to us. Client claims she made several phone calls to us asking for refund. This is an unfortunate and outright lie as we always request cancellation requests to be made by email as we need a mail trail in such cases. This is the process we have been following for several years. We didn't receive a single phone call or mail from this client asking us for refund. Otherwise we would have gladly explained her options and refunded her amount like we have done to 100s of other clients. When this chargeback request was ruled in our favor (there was clear mail trail where client asked for credit voucher so her card provider ruled in our favor), she escalated and raised a chareback request for a VISA committee to rule on this while posting this review for us. VISA committee did their review and ruled again in our favor. Client claims bank refunded the full amount to her card in February 2021. This is again half truth giving a totally wrong picture of bank's investigation process. When clients raise chargeback requests, banks immediately deduct the amount from us and credit to clients while they do their investigation. Once the investigation concludes, banks either settle the amount in favor of client or the merchant as per their investigation. Its true that when client escalated to VISA committe in February 2021, bank deducted funds from our account immediately. After 3 months, bank concluded their investigation and on 21st April 2021, we got below message from our payment gateway "We are glad to inform you that we have received feedback from the bank that you have won the chargeback! As such, we have credited your Direct Pay Online account with the above amount. This will be included in your next settlement. We shall therefore close this ticket. Thank you for cooperating with us during this process and congratulations." *** More details below: Clients comment: "Mojhi repeatedly refused to cancel the trip saying it was my choice not to go!!!" In her card transaction chargeback dispute she raised (which was ruled in our favor), client mentioned "services were cancelled by the retailer and due to this our customer contacted retailer for refund" Our response: It is interesting to note that while client mentions we(mojhi) cancelled the trip in her chargeback complaint, in her above review, she says we refused to canel the trip. Both statements are false. The Customer's travel date was for September 06, 2020. They paid 30% of the booking amount as advance and balance 70% was to be paid 30 days before arrival. They asked for their cancellation options on 3rd July 2020 (65 days before travel date). At that time countries in southern Africa were slowly opening (Zambia was already open by then) We replied on mail saying if they cancel, according to cancellation fees would apply as per voucher. As per voucher they are liable for 20% cancellation fees but we offered to charge them 10% cancellation fees only because of prevailing covid19 situation and as an additional option, we offered them a credit voucher for full deposit amount without any cancellation fees. We also suggested that since cancellation policy would remain the same for about the next 1 month, they can inform us on their decision next month - so that their cancellation/refund/credit voucher offer would still say the same while they have additional time to make their decision. Customers acknowledged this and on Aug 4 2020, they mailed us saying their flights for their September tour were cancelled and they would like to postpone to September 2021 and asked us for a credit voucher for 2021. They said they will let us know the exact dates nearer the time. That's the last conversation we ever had with customers. There was no mail till date(18 July 2021) from customers after that. There was NO mail from customers ever (before or After their mail in August) asking us to refund 20% while charging 10% as per that we offered. Customers themselves asked for a credit voucher and ended their communication with us. We subsequently informed all our vendors about customers' decisions (whom we already paid soon after clients paid us) and in turn, got customers booking extended till the end of 2021 without penalty. Customer enquired about cancellation options and we offered higher refund than mentioned in voucher with an additional option for full credit voucher and they opted for credit voucher. Customers comment "I knew the cancellation policy was 10%, but they kept the 30% I had already paid, saying they had already used it so could offer no cash refund at all." Our response: As per booking voucher cancellation fee was 20%. Refund was 10%. When you enquired about your options for cancellation/postponement, we however mentioned that we would offer you 20% refund and charge only 10% as cancellation fees. We never ever ever said we can't offer this refund. Its client who asked for postonement and credit voucher from us and subsequently raised a chargeback dispute with their card provider without even mailing us asking for refund. Clients comment: "They have given me a voucher....but in the current situation this is totally worthless." Our response: We repeat. Customer asked for credit note themselves. They had option of cancelling with 10% cancellation fee but they opted for credit voucher so as to not lose this 10%. **** So in summary, instead of asking us for 20% refund that we offered in 2020, client has directly raised a chargeback request in December 2020 on her full 30% advance with her bank(so as to not lose the cancellation fees of 10%) and based on the proofs we have submitted, bank agreed with us not once and declined customers chargeback request. Post that customer continued with the dispute and escalated the case and raised arbitration to let VISA committee to rule the dispute in February 2021. After we submitted all the proofs, VISA committe ruled in our favor and we won the dispute again in April 2021. We are glad bank/VISA committee did a fair investigation and resolved this case.

We did a safari and Gorilla trekking in Uganda November 2019. We paid for private tour and luxury lodges. Wow wow wow. It was amazing. Words cannot describe the holiday. From making first contact with Mohji I felt they was helpful in understanding my needs, they put a package together and we was not disappointed . I was a little scared as needed to pay in advance for all permits but everything went smoothly. We was picked up from our hotel and taken care of the whole time. 1st class service and a holiday to remember

I was skeptical about booking through a…

I was skeptical about booking through a third party. But after seeing the typical websites for tour companies in Tanzania I contacted Mojhi—as their site inspires much more confidence than the operators themselves. I usually book direct. But with limited communication skills amongst some of the tour operators, I would not recommend doing so in Tanzania. I got immediate help EVERY time I had a question, they were great communicators and their site was so useful. They made the process MUCH easier and still, somehow the costs were lower than booking direct. My guess is the reason for that is that they are making it easier for the tour operators too. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Amazing memories of a wonderful safari; thank you

We are most grateful for an amazing and unforgettable safari; we cannot fault a thing. Said's knowledge is absolutely amazing. Thanks for your flexibility in accommodating at short notice the walking safari, we had the best time ever. Food, accommodation, transport were all perfect. We hope that things will return to normality soon for us all and we look forward to visiting Tanzania and its beautiful nature and people in the near future.
