Namecheap refused to act on a serious abuse report

I reported a domain registered with Namecheap that is publishing people’s personal information, including photos, phone numbers, locations, and harmful allegations. I provided evidence and explained that people have been threatened and put in danger. Namecheap’s abuse team still refused to take action, saying the website is not hosted with them and they only provide the domain registration. The domain is registered with Namecheap, so I expected them to at least properly review the case instead of simply using the hosting excuse. Very disappointed with how Namecheap handled this serious abuse report.

It is true that we do not own the domain name mentioned in your report. The issue needs to be addressed with the hosting provider to see if their terms of service have been violated. It should also be addressed to the domain registrant, as they are the individual who controls what particular content is being exchanged. UPDATE: Namecheap resolved my account access issue

UPDATE — August 31, 2026: I originally left a very negative review after I was unable to access my Namecheap account because the verification emails required to log in were not arriving. At the time, I repeatedly tried to get into the account, checked my spam and junk folders, waited for the codes, and contacted support. The experience was extremely frustrating because I simply could not access my own account. Since leaving my original review, however, there has been an important update and I believe it is only fair that my review reflect the complete situation. Namecheap contacted me and confirmed that they were experiencing an email-delivery problem on their end affecting Trusted Device and password-reset verification emails. They also publicly acknowledged the issue in their response to my review and informed me when the technical problem had been resolved. I tried accessing my account again, and I am now successfully logged into my Namecheap account and have access to it. I am not interested in leaving an unfair review simply because I was frustrated at the time. The original problem absolutely happened, and I still believe the initial support experience could have been handled better and the situation communicated more clearly. Being unable to access an account because verification emails are not being delivered is a serious issue. However, Namecheap ultimately acknowledged that the problem was on their side, fixed the technical issue, followed up with me, and restored my ability to access the account. I appreciate them taking responsibility and resolving it. For that reason, I am updating my original review and rating. I think 4 stars is fair based on the final outcome. The experience was not perfect, but Namecheap did ultimately make it right.
