This Chinese business is deceitful scam…
This Chinese business is deceitful scam on American consumers. I was so excited to receive the beautiful US Navy Veteran commemorative whiskey glasses, I purchased on March 4th. During that online transaction there was a link to another website advertising a beautifully designed whiskey decanter with a Liberty Bell cap that commemorated Anerica’s 250th anniversary. I purchased 3, with the intention of presenting two as gifts. Within a couple of weeks I received both packages, opened them with great anticipation to discover four cheap glasses with a garrish yellow silkscreened imprint that wasn’t worth 20% of the price ai paid, glasses I would be embarrassed to own or gift. The glass decanter was a joke, more of a flaskless than 7 inches tall, with a few cheap printed stick-on decals that had a totally different level of quality and appearance than what was advertised - with a cheap plastic, ill fitting cork (no liberty bell) I can’t describe the outrage at the willful deception. I was also upset at myself for not verifying this China based business before I made a purchase. This isn’t a dig on China based businesses, it’s a warning to check out any offshore business to ensure it’s not a scam. So I contacted the business and alerted American Express and PayPal. The business said I could get a refund if I returned the product to CHINA at my expense (anywhere from $60-$80 cost). Who would go to that effort and spend an additional $60-80 to ultimately end up with $20 net loss? Crazy, right? Well not crazy when you realize that this requirement is obviously intended to minimize the % of returns. And the manipulated requirement to send all returns to China is all the more outrageous when you note that their shipment didn’t come from China, it came from one of the regional warehouses or their 3PL Chines logistics provider in America - in my case that warehouse was in Franklin Park, IL - 180 miles from us. I was willing to return it at my expense to the warehouse I shipped it from, unused, in the original containers. But that was against their return policy. And re AmEx and PayPal, they could care less that they are dealing with a fraudulent, deceptive business. All they care about is that their commercial customer has a return policy and honors it (regardless of whether it’s a fair policy. So ultimately they don’t care if their Card Holder is deceived. Don’t be fooled by attractive pictures of products offered at bargain prices. You’ll be buying junk, wasting your $$$, and feeling like you got conned.
