My experience with Welo Data / Welocalize was disappointing enough that I would not recommend the platform. The issue started during onboarding, when the system repeatedly warned that I appeared to be using a VPN or proxy connection. I was not. To rule out anything on my end, I tested the platform through different browsers, my normal Danish home connection, a separate mobile connection, and directly from my phone using cellular data. The warning remained regardless of how I connected. I contacted support and explained the situation in detail. I also made it clear that I had previously accessed the platform while physically visiting the United States, but that I am Danish and intended to work only from Denmark. There was no attempt to hide my location or bypass any restrictions. Despite that, the account was eventually deactivated. What bothered me most was not simply the deactivation itself, but the complete lack of useful communication around it. I was never given a clear explanation of what had supposedly gone wrong, whether the issue was related to location, identity verification, the VPN/proxy warning, or something else entirely. That leaves the contributor in an impossible position: you can provide real information, try to troubleshoot in good faith, contact support, and still end up removed without being told what you actually need to correct. Afterwards, I looked into other contributor experiences and found many similar complaints involving opaque onboarding, unexplained removals, poor support, and significant amounts of unpaid time spent on assessments. For me, the combination of unreliable onboarding and a lack of transparency from support makes this a platform I would avoid. If you decide to try Welo Data / Welocalize, I would strongly recommend keeping records of everything you submit and being cautious about how much unpaid time you invest before you have actually been given access to paid work.

They invited me to a project from My location and I was not able to continue, I sent a ticket asking why, receiving and automatic message, and asked again for recheck My first ticket where I added screenshots, and my account got deactivated, unmature and unprofessional company

This is their job assignment scam: 1. No visible word count or rate before you accept a job. Jobs land in the portal without the figures you'd need to actually evaluate whether it's worth taking. You're expected to say yes first and find out what you're being paid for after. Hiding rate and word count until you "claim" the job is a deliberate anti-selection mechanism. A few things happen when they withhold that info: They shift the decision point. If you saw "2,400 words, $0.06/word, due in 6 hours" up front, you'd decline instantly — that's a bad rate for a rush job. By hiding it, they get you to commit to claiming the job (a small, low-friction action) before you see the number that would make you say no. Once you've claimed it, sunk-cost thinking and the awkwardness of un-claiming work in their favor. It speeds up their fulfillment funnel. Broadcasting to "several translators" and letting whoever claims first see the details is a race mechanic — it rewards speed of claiming over informed consent, which fills jobs faster than a model where each translator deliberates with full info before acting. It hides the economics of the job itself. If the true per-word or per-hour rate looks bad once you see the word count, that's information they'd rather you not have while comparing your options.

These people are criminals. They asked me to do a project and I did it and they never paid me. I was fast and efficient. They even emailed they received it. They have ignored me ever since and never paid me. I emailed the company directly, the person that emailed me and still nothing. They still refuse to acknowledge they stole from me. They even had the nerve to email me back and just give me the process of how to do payments, without acknowledging they haven't paid me. Three times they messages about how to see my payment while never addressing the issue of NOT getting paid. Morons...complete morons..
