Predatory Subscription Service
Like quite a few others, I also fell victim to their predatory subscription tactics. I thought I cancelled my subscription months ago only to be charged for another three boxes. I opened a ticket via their customer service and wrote the following: “I did not agree to continue this subscription, it resumed automatically. Please cancel it and refund my money. Thank you.” I got a response telling me the following: “Kindly note that Sakuraco operates as a subscription-based service with an auto-renewal billing system. This means that unless canceled before the renewal date, the subscription automatically renews for the next cycle. Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds for payments that have already been processed through our system. However, we can confirm that your subscription has now been successfully canceled, and your final box will be the November 2026 box.“ They always “kindly” inform you that they operate as a subscription-based service with an auto-renewal billing system, which I am aware of, on the other hand I thought cancelling your subscription would stop the auto-renewal of the subscription. If it doesn’t work somehow(because of their exhausting, misleading, confusing and predatory cancelling process), you end up being charged once again and they hit you with their “strict” no refund policy (they evidently do offer special “one-off refunds” as shown by another reviewer here on ) and just cancel your subscription for the future, which at this point, is like putting a bandaid on a bullet hole. I could rant on but I doubt it would do anything at this point and the only thing I can do is warn others. I’m giving them two stars because their boxes by themselves are a pretty cool and fun idea. You can tell that they are thoughtfully curated and the little guide books are nice as well. The snacks do get repetitiv after a few boxes though, but it’s still been fun trying them all.
