★★★★★ **Much more than an e-reader — an excellent E-Ink Android platform** I have been using the VIWOODS AiPaper Reader for some time now, and my experience with both the device and the company has been extremely positive. I originally bought it primarily as an E-Ink reader, but I soon discovered that its open Android environment makes it capable of much more. As someone who enjoys developing software, I started creating my own Android applications specifically designed and optimized for its E-Ink display. So far I have developed and tested several applications directly on the AiPaper Reader, including an ADS-B aircraft radar and METAR viewer, a world clock, a weather application, a daily astronomical almanac and a space information center. I have included some screenshots with this review because I think they demonstrate better than words how versatile this device can be. The E-Ink screen is particularly enjoyable for applications where information needs to remain visible for long periods. A clean black-and-white interface looks remarkably natural on this display, almost like a printed technical instrument rather than a conventional tablet. I also appreciate having Android underneath. Being able to install applications and use development tools transforms the AiPaper from a simple reading device into a genuinely interesting platform for experimentation and custom software. During my first weeks with the device I encountered a few issues, particularly involving Google Services, ADB access and installing/logging into applications such as Telegram and X. This is also where my experience with VIWOODS really impressed me. Their customer support was excellent. Claire and the VIWOODS support team responded personally and in detail, explained the Google Play certification situation clearly, provided the necessary tools and instructions to enable ADB development access, and involved their technical and firmware teams when necessary. ADB now works perfectly with Android Studio, Google Play Store works correctly, and I have successfully installed and used both Telegram and X. What I particularly appreciated was that the support never felt like a collection of generic automated answers. They listened to the technical details I provided and genuinely tried to understand what I was doing with the device. For someone interested only in reading books, the AiPaper Reader is already a very pleasant E-Ink device. But for technically curious users and developers, I think there is another side to this product that deserves more attention: it can become a surprisingly capable E-Ink Android platform. After developing and running my own applications on it, I probably use it in ways I had never imagined when I bought it — and that is perhaps the best compliment I can give a piece of technology. Excellent device, excellent technical support, and a company that appears genuinely interested in listening to its users. Very happy with my AiPaper Reader.

Warning
Warning: "Free Returns" is a trap. Avoid this company. I bought a device from Viwoods EU because they explicitly advertised free returns. After trying it out, I decided to send it back. However, they deducted €15 from my refund for shipping, claiming that my order was placed during a "promotional period." This is deceptive advertising. Save yourself the headache and avoid companies like this.

Disaster
Despite the frustration and the enormous waste of time caused by using the AiPaper Mini, it is perhaps a great relief to finally leave a terrible review for a product whose software is nothing short of disgraceful. It is packed with bugs that persist release after release without being fixed. The whole experience is clunky, overly complicated, and unnecessarily frustrating. I’d rather have fewer features that actually work than a long list of broken ones. Never again. I wouldn’t use it even if it were given to me for free.

The device was fine until it stopped working after a few months of use. Customer service has been unresponsive. I'm left with a very expensive paperweight. Please do your research on this company before purchasing any products from them.

Aftersales: trying to scam you
The product is kinda ok. Used Remarkable before and that was plain old tech. Viwoods AI Mini is faster and has way more functionality. But, when my styles broke I send them a request askimg if they could help. I got a honest reply stating the styles is defected. Only having it for less than one year, they stated that I was in luck, I could get 50% off the retail price for a replacement. What? In EU we got atleast 24 months of warranty. “We are sorry to hear about the issues you've been experiencing with your stylus. Based on your description, it appears the issue is specific to the stylus itself. As your order has exceeded the 100-day free trial period, it is no longer eligible for a complimentary replacement. Additionally, please note that the stylus is classified as a consumable item, which is generally not covered under our standard warranty. However, we want to help you get back to using your device. As a gesture of goodwill, we are pleased to offer you a 50% discount on the W2 stylus or a 40% discount on our ceramic stylus. Please let us know which option you prefer, and we will provide the discount code for your purchase. Thank you for your understanding.” Replied and stated your mistaking and point out the EU law. After wich they send it to me only by paying 15 euro for sending and handling costs. Are you mental? This results in never ever buying a product of Viwoods ever again. What are you thinking. Viwoods scams the customer in my opinion.
