Comportement d'escroc chez AVIS Croatie
J’ai réservé via Booking, un véhicule chez AVIS à l’aéroport de Dubrovnik, Croatie. Avis m’a facturé des prestations que je n’avais pas demandées, et qui ne m’ont pas été proposées lors de la prise en charge notamment des rachats de franchise en cas d’accident, en camouflant cela lors de la prise en charge: signature sur un iPad sans voir le contenu du contrat, remise de la copie papier soigneusement pliée de façon à ne pas montrer la partie correspondant au rachat des franchises, débit de la caution au moment de la prise en charge du véhicule. Une vraie escroquerie pour laquelle Avis refuse de me rembourser les 350 € indûment perçus. À fuir absolument!!

SCAMMED When signing the screen the second time on additional information - where it says i agree to optional service costs (in very small grey text). I asked specifically that I do not want any optional extras and no extra charges, The rep said there weren't any extra charges, so I signed. Later I noticed that there were 140,50 Euros of extras for wheels, windscreen and personal accident insurance that i did not want. The next day I went to office and asked them to be removed and was told they are compulsory as selected by the agent (*British Airways booking). Which sounds unlikely but he was adamant that I had to pay it. Basically this doubled the cost of my rental and your entire staff at Dubrovnic seem focused on extracting more money from each customer than they intended. Please refer to any online reviews, google, etc. This is a very common tactic. Avis Dubrovnik is an embarrassment to the Avis company and to Croatia.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE I rented a car from Payless at Zadar Airport from 26 May to 9 June 2026. My experience after returning the car has been extremely frustrating. I was charged for a Super Cover/waiver package that I was completely unaware I had purchased. I specifically told the representative at the desk that I did not want additional insurance. I would never knowingly have paid for this cover. I signed the rental paperwork, but I was not made aware that I was agreeing to an additional insurance product or its cost. When I complained, Payless/Avis simply told me that because I had signed the rental agreement, the charge was valid. I have asked them to show me evidence that the Super Cover was properly explained to me and that I knowingly agreed to purchase it, but so far I have not received a satisfactory resolution. I have also had problems getting clear information regarding my €414.74 security deposit and have spent considerable time contacting customer service trying to resolve the matter. What is most disappointing is the lack of willingness to properly investigate the circumstances surrounding the charges. Saying "you signed the agreement" does not answer the question of whether the additional product was actually explained and knowingly accepted. I would strongly recommend that anyone renting from Payless/Avis carefully checks every single charge and line on the paperwork before signing, even if you believe you have already made your choices at the desk. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not use Payless/Avis again.

!! DO NOT rent a car via BOOKING.COM at AVIS DUBROVNIK CROATIA or directly!! Fraudulent staff at the desk at the airport! You will be scammed. Go somewhere else. Booked and paid for the car in advance at Booking.com. I explicitly rejected any other charge or option than crossing borders. Which was agreed and understood by the representative at the desk. No validation or reviewing the final agreement with you before signing. Only an iPad presented with a box for a signature. Additional charges and options were added without mentioning them upfront or reviewing for consent before signature. Support from Booking.com to correct this? Forget it! Support from AVIS customer service Croatia and even AVIS BUDGET Group International? Forget it! They just don’t care as long as there is a signature. And if I was the only one with this experience, it was on me. Just read the other reviews and there is clearly a pattern of this fraudulent behaviour and scam. No star is a better option than 1
